just heard the warning for you guys. We got a hell of a lot of rain (nice river going right now) and some wind but seems the worst is staying south..........towards you.

I'm not actually in the warning box, but they sound them for the whole county. Only went off for 3 minutes, and were kind of late actually. Some intense wind for a minute, now just raining. No hail even.

Headed into the station just in case they needed some help...not so much, but hung around. Finally decided to leave, and not a block away from the station, had to slam on the brakes for a recycling bin crossing my path.

Little bit of light flickering here, but nothing major.

The bad read RTT and finished off partial bag of chips in cupboard.
The good read RTT and took bike ride not Velo type #'s but it was another 16 in.

sounds like pretty significant storm damage between here and home. Chaser, parent said 69 is closed because of all the trees down. Looking at pics now on the scanner page and looks like you'd have plenty of work there.

I bet. Good thing we stay close to home. I'm sure we'll have something. We're still doing stuff from the last one.

Anyone near the DSM airport? Hubby's car out in the open. When I texted him he said he had tried to get ramp parking, but only spots on the roof. He gets back Friday.

Had an away game in Roland. Daughter called at 5 and said they were going to play varsity at 6pm instead of 7 and skip JV if needed. Then she calls back and says never mind, going to play JV at 5:30 as planned. They should have flipped the games. About 6:30 they see lightning to the north so call JV. Have to wait 30min. More lightning to the north (I never saw any, but you could hear thunder rumbling). Going to start varsity at 8pm. About 7:45pm a guy comes over and says there is a possible tornado to the NE. Everybody goes home. I know it was nasty in southern Iowa and was bad north, but the storm split around Ames and we got nothing. Even Roland got nothing, but the lightning was close enough at 8mi away to call everything off.
