Hennepin County recycling facilities will accept CRT TV's (for a fee). My problem is that I have one in my basement that weighs about 340 pounds and I need to figure out a way to get it out of there without breaking the backs of 4 people.

When we were looking for land to build our house, one neighborhood we looked at was at the base of a hill in Maple Grove, MN. We took my FIL to look at it. His comment was, "That hill is where we used to go and dump our old appliances and let them roll down the hill." Things were easier in the olden days.

Parking spot stealer lady I bitched about sits about 25 feet from me in a cube and she's still super ******* loud. Slams the phone after every phone call. I can't deal with it. 1 more week and after nearly 6 years I'll get my own office where I hope she will be far enough away I wont have to listen to her at all. Yay for new building getting complete.

woot, enjoy your office.

.

I think I know this TV. Many years ago my neighbor inherited a yuge Sony in a nice wood cabinet. Maybe a 32" or something as big as they went back then. Helped him haul it in. Told him not to bother calling me if he ever needed to haul it out since i would not help him with it again. It was a man killer.

Our dump takes CRTs for a fee.

So does ours. We just had a community cleanup day where you could drop them off and pay maybe $20. Then about four days later, dumbass down the street puts his out on the curb like anyone is just going to take it. Still out there.

I predict it will be in his home until he dies at which time they will gut it and use the cabinet for his final resting place. Pallbearers will complain for years about having to haul it out.

Can you tell me where? Mom has one in her garage that needs to go. I keep forgetting about it since it's in a corner.
Omaha started a Clean Omaha program. For 6 weeks in the spring you can drop off pretty much anything. I dropped of an old 13 inch TV and then realized I should have dropped off my old 19 inch color CRT that I bought for $450 back in 98. Last I checked it still worked.
Next year I am going to be prepared. I have an old mower I need to get rid of as well.

You should sneak over there at night and tape a screen shot of a quirky show on the screen just to liven up the neighborhood. Change them out once or twice a week.

I believe mine's a Toshiba but that's it. I bought it because flat-panel TVs were still troublesome at the time.

I had a friend that bought the Mitsubishi 40" color TV. I drove him down to the Mart to pick it up. That was a bear to move into the house. I wonder what happened to it.

CG, your manager sounds like a douchecanoe.

I'm pretty much the first person they've managed and I thought it was going fine but it's like, I can really tell they need more experience with......working life. This is a stupid battle to pick. They won't win, and it makes them look petty and difficult. They think that mutual boss doesn't like them much, well......now you're going to take up boss's very valuable time to deal with this?! Excellent way to land a perma spot on the **** list. I think manager is unhappy with their role right now and wants a promotion (and I'm basically the cookie of, you aren't ready for a promotion, but here's an underling). Well, **** like this will keep you from more responsibility. And I don't anticipate that I will be their underling for long. They keep this up and I will push to be switched since it sounds like I almost didn't go to them anyway.

Manager takes their new role quite seriously and actually had a little chat with me basically being like "you went behind my back" for having a convo with my mentor-type person about my future here. Which included talking about things that to my knowledge, new manager had no clue of as it dealt with stuff that happened well before they were my manager. So yeah, hard to ask them for updates on things they are in the dark on. I'm sorry that results of that convo came back to them in a way that they didn't like, but I do not feel I did anything wrong - nor have I have been told that by others involved. I will continue to talk to mentor person whenever I feel they are the most appropriate person to go to.
I like manager as a person and had no trouble with them when they were my peer, but I think they are digging their own hole right now. And I do not appreciate any attempt at drawing me down into it. I avoid office drama for a reason.

Ugh, wish old manager would come back from vacay so I could talk to them.
