Sounds like CG and KC are getting the wife treatment this morning.

I'm in a good mood today. Didn't check email and didn't listen to radio yesterday.

I'm disappointed in myself for not asking JC.

Anyone know how long south 4th street is going to be closed?

2016/17 CyRide Route Pavement Improvements (S. 3rd / 4th Street)
The City of Ames has contracted with Manatt's, Inc. of Ames, Iowa for street improvements along S. 3rd / 4th Street from Squaw Creek east to S. Duff Avenue. The project will include pavement reconstruction and resurfacing, intake repair and replacement, repairs to the sanitary sewer system, and improvements to the adjacent sidewalks and trails.

UPDATE: Manatt's will begin with full-depth pavement reconstruction from Squaw Creek to S. Hazel Avenue, intake repair/replacement, repairs of the sanitary sewer, and pavement resurfacing of the north two lanes from S. Hazel Avenue towards S. Grand Avenue. Once this work is complete, the pavement resurfacing will begin on the south two lanes from S. Hazel Avenue towards S. Grand Avenue. Manatt's will close S. 4th Street between University Blvd and S. Grand Avenue on Sunday, April 9th with construction activities to begin the following day. Traffic will be detoured to Lincoln Way along University Blvd and S. Grand Avenue. Access will be maintained from the east for the properties to the south of S. 4th Street. Manatt's is expecting to be complete with the work between Squaw Creek and S. Grand avenue by May 31, weather dependent.

**** that. Ames is always under construction during the spring and summer

Pretty much.
I got caught up in that last week, trying to run to Target on my lunch hour and wanting to avoid the Lincoln Way noon traffic. Took me 25 minutes to get to over there because of the backtracking I had to do first, then all the lights & traffic. It probably would have been faster to go down to S 16th by the time all was said & done...

You should have been in Ames in the 70s when a north/south train could block one half of town from the other. They would come into town and then stop. One time we were on south 4th tryng to get to the liquor store and the train was blocking us and it was getting close to 8pm (when they closed)
I just got out climbed over the train, went to the liquor store and climbed back over the train and got back in the car. We were first in line so we were able to do a 3 point turn and go back with our whiskey.

You can still get that treatment in downtown CR! In fact we got it leaving church on Friday night. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long while they unhooked a block away and pulled it back. I briefly debated jumping up and over but wisely chose not to. One guy actually was about to climb on before his buddies talked him out of it. When it started he realized why that was a bad idea.

Fun Easter things:
1. Z got animal band aids and chalk in her Easter bag. She learned she could color ants with them and laughed when I told her not to squish them....
2. Went to play at the Mucky Duck castle and brought tea home.
3. Z practiced pouring our tea, sang lullabies to it, and then helped me drink it.
4. Almost all of the animal band aids have been used. Before bed I had one on my nose, two on my forehead, and another on my cheek.....

My really sad Easter thing:
My grandma forgot that she wasn't to stand by herself (healing from broken hip)and fell and opened up everything : ( She's that last grand parent on either side left. (Or Great grandparent for Z).

Also, if you see an animal band aid on a dad of a toddler do you:

A. Ask him how he got hurt
B. Anything assuming, oh toddler!

I remember talking to one Ames resident who bemoaned the Grand underpass because it screwed up his free pizza. They apparently knew the train schedule or at least one evening train so they knew when to order a Dominos pizza. Apparently they could get their pizza for free more times than not because train.

So called into work saying I wouldn't be in on account of my back issues. Got an appt this morning at my local Chiro. Did some physical adjustments then went to another room for about 25-30 minutes of treatment via electrotherapy. After the electrotherapy I was like a new born animal trying to stand up. Initially I felt worse but he said to do a couple laps around the parking lot. He said to try and stay active so I went into work. Feeling much better than yesterday.

Luckily I have great bosses who understand. Today was like just the 5th or 6th time calling into work in the nearly 12 years of working there so they know if I'm calling in it's pretty bad. They are working with me so I can get another appt. in tomorrow morning otherwise I wouldn't be able to get an appt. until Wednesday.

Word of advice, if they tell you to take off the electrodes yourself, make sure to turn it off first. It will zap from your fingers, down your arm, through your chest (your heart is here) and back to the still attached electrode when you get the first off. Also, if there is a steady current, they messed up, its not supposed to be like that and it will start to become slightly/rather irritating/painful (pending pain threshold) after a little bit. If it wasn't for the days where dad had me touch the electric fences as a kid to see if they worked, i probably would have been more alarmed by those experiences.

Assume he's a daddy...ALWAYS. :)

When my ex was TA'ing during grad school, he had a timer in his pocket for an experiment they were doing. When it went off, he pulled it out of his pocket, and the NUK pacifier that was in his pocket came out with it. Fun times explaining that to a room full of undergrads!

Now that's thinking ahead!
