Heading to trailhead and than to bike to Excelsior. Expecting zero other alumni to show up so I can live up to my Native American biker name of Bikes Alone.

It's pretty much a George Thurogood kinda deal.

I ride alone, yeah
With nobody else
I ride alone, yeah
With nobody else
You know when I ride alone
I prefer to be by myself

Every Sunday just before sunset

I don't want no walkin’ or runnin’
Just me and good buddy Bianchi
That's all I ever need
'Cause I ride alone, yeah
With nobody else
Yeah, you know when I ride alone
I prefer to be by myself

Z did a great job helping me make no yeast and no egg cinnamon rolls. They were more like a biscuit, but didn't taste too bad.

She stood on the step stool and helped dump things in and helped me stir. She tried to help me cut the rolls, thankfully I was faster. :wubclub::wubclub:

Way to ruin the pun chain, Rev!!!!!1!!1!!!

Thank you Rev for ruining the punch chain!! :p

I am baking out my frustrations. Not a great sports weekend. Peanut butter chocolate chip cookies in the oven. The one loaf of chocolate chip banana bread I made is all gone.

OK, frequent travellers, please assure me that I'm not an insensitive jerk. My mom called me, they're in the Vegas airport, their first flight is delayed, meaning they'll miss their connecting flight. She asked me to call united and find them another flight. While I'm willing to help, I'm thinking me trying to hook them up with a flight when I know nothing isn't going to go well, so I said "I can, but I think if you go to the united desk, they'll be able to get you going much better than I could. Then she said that there was a ton of people there already. I then said that I could get them the number, I just worried that as a 3rd party, it just wasn't going to work well. She then said she would call, kind of in a huff.

Am I crazy, or isn't it way better for them to arrange it there, than me to try and do it from Iowa and not them?

I would have disowned you.

Some son you are.

I think that's ridiculous. I've been stuck in bad spots a couple time like that too. The first time was my first flight - I went to the desk and talked there. Had to spend the night in Detroit, so that wasn't great.

The 2nd time was work, so I called our agent to get help but was also going back and forth between desks and getting on standby lists.

I'm assuming your dad is there as well? One of them get in line for United's desk, one of them get on the phone. And actually, depending on how many people are delayed and how long it's delayed, they may hold the connecting flight.

Hey DSM, my brother (Gordon fan) went to his first race today. Mom texted about an hour ago saying he was so excited.

Wonder how he's feeling now........

I think you're in the right because it'll be easier and quicker for them to handle it than for you. especially when they have all the info and you don't have any. Obviously there are exceptions, but in your case I'd say you were right.

Yeah, mom and dad. I mean, they don't travel often, they've probably flown less than 10 times, so I'm sure they're nervous, but I tried to tell them that this happens all the time, the people there or on the phone will be able to help them way better than I, who hasn't flown that much more.

Stayed the night in detroit, huh...did you get a medal or something to commemorate surviving?

So I found out that my neighbor that got taken by ambulance to the hospital 2 Thursdays ago suffered from a pulmonary embolism and has been up in Madison since then. I wondered why his wife and kids weren't home for a few days. He's in an induced coma right now and they're monitoring his brain activity. I've only met him once since they moved in about 2 months ago. Really sad situation, hoping for the best

ha, it was certainly quite the experience for my first flight. I did have a college friend with me but she hadn't flown much and this was also a first for her. Hotel had bullet holes and suspicious stains. I was out in the hallway talking to DH and another girl that had been delayed came out of her room with all her stuff - I asked if she had an early flight (this was like 11pm) and she's like no, I think the room has bedbugs.

I've probably only flown 10-12 times myself but I guess I read enough stuff to know that delays happen all the time and unless it involves spending a week sleeping on the floor in Denver's airport (for that snowstorm deal!), it'll probably get worked out.

yikes, that's not good at all.

I actually thought the detroit airport was pretty good. And she could have made a video like this

Detroit actually does have a pretty nice airport. And the hotel row right by it is nice as well, as long as you can handle the noise.
