Recruiters are fairly worthless to someone with experience imo. For example my current employer uses them to recruit college's and other than that they are just the first line of resume filters. The one I was in touch with didn't do much other than general HR stuff.

Two months ago we had an opening and my boss didn't like any of the candidates he passed along. A co-worker had a buddy that had years of retail management experience that wanted out and to move back to Iowa. The recruiter didn't pass his resume on because he didn't think my boss wanted that much experience. Guess who got hired?

He's in highschool. I'm guessing busser, maybe.

That would make sense. Although, if its $40 on top of the wage he's getting, that is not bad for a high school job. I was a hostess in college, and it was minimum wage gig plus tips from servers. I'd get $10-11/hr on average.

Sooooo in my early stages of job hunting to come home, I had a phone call with a recruiter last night. Has anyone had any experience with these people? What an absolute waste of time. Orlando =/= eastern Iowa....
Be careful getting interviews through them also. You may find the job they are talking to you about yourself through another source. If they line up the interview, the employer pays the recruitment fees if they hire you. As an employer would you rather hire the same person with or without the finder's fee?

This thought had run through my mind as well. With almost 5 years experience, I got the impression they were focusing on entry level and career changes rather than the transportation industry as a whole. I'm not much of a sales guy and that seemed to be the focal point of the conversation. I know my skills are specialized but surely an operations and capacity role isn't that much of a stretch.

This also had crossed my mind. Without much understanding of their process I had assumed they had to be making money off either the top of my potential salary or as a finders fee to the employer. I had assumed they might have insight to some jobs that I might not have know about which is why I agreed to the call but if they're doing what I'm already doing it might just be wishful thinking.

Sometimes recruiters will advertise the job as $18/hr when the employer is actually paying $20/hr. That is what happened to me when I did a 4 week contract job several years ago. It was only $1/hr but as a just graduated high school kid, making $24/hr instead of $25 was not that heartbreaking to me.

I can live with something like this so long as my salary stays in the same range, however if all they did was point me to a link to apply rather than arrange an interview, I would be pretty upset.

Mrs.00 said that bawling softball girl and screaming softball dad from across the street came over last night selling chocolate bars (for softball), and screaming softball dad was all "Sorry if we ruined your afternoon the other day". We kind of packed up and went in right in the middle of it, so I think they thought that was why, but it was time to start on dinner.

Guess who's back, baby dolls!!!

This place was just a mess without me. I feel bad for CG's employer because she clearly showed what kind of leadership she provided in my absence with her lack of control of this place.

I'm kind of like Seneca Wallace in that I'm the flashy quarterback that puts this rag tag team full of misfits on my back and carries you all, where CG is more like Hiawatha Rutland, because she's good when she's not the central focus of the team, but her rap game is still strong at least.

There are some companies that do prefer to hire through a recruiter. If they can find you a potential job that you didn't find on your own it doesn't hurt to try.
