Random Thoughts 18: The Year of Fire

Well had some left over cheesy garlic bread in the fridge, but it on a pizza pan topped with some pepperoni and added some extra cheese, popped it in the oven for 10 minutes at 250 and it turned out pretty good.

Was running tight for mbb yesterday. Decided on CHICK-FIL-A after the Duff bebops was closed and Wendy's looked really busy.
Pulled into Chick-fil-A and thought what a disaster. I was wrong. That double lane drive thru with 4(?) Order takers can really put the cars through. I don't think it was more than 5 minutes from pull in to back on Duff. They are crazy efficient at drive thru. Friendly work staff also. Does anyone know do they pay more than typical fast food, because service wise they are way above average. IMO.
They are miracle workers.

They have a more extensive training program than their competitors and you hear that they really do treat their employees with more respect. They limit annual growth in terms of store openings which may indiciate that they aren't always pushing too hard. Plus, they are guaranteed to have Sunday off which is different than the rest of the industry.

Also the app for ordering is phenomenal and the rewards are good too. We are good friends with the owners of the busiest one in CR. He recently split the two drive up lanes. One is for mobile orders with a QR code to scan and you are through to pickup. The other one is normal. Ordering using the app and mobile thru has me through there generally in well under 5 minutes.

I'm going to miss free hot drink Mondays at Casey's. Large cup 3/4 hot chocolate 1/4 coffee makes a nice warm up and caffeine buzz to start the day.

We went to the Meadery this weekend. I find mead to be so-so. A bit too sweet for me. The neighbor lady ordered a flight and didn't like any of them so the neighbor husband and I finished those off. We found that we liked it better and better as we drank more. Whether that was because we become more accustomed to the honey aftertaste or because we just got more drunk, we aren't sure.

The place had lots of medieval-style decorations and had capes, crowns, helmets, plastic swords and axes, and a heavy mjolnir. It was weird but in a good way. I'd like to say we'd go back because we had fun but none of us really loved the drink.

We also stopped at Big Wood brewery so it wasn't real difficult to come up with super-intelligent comments about the name of the place.

You ever get the feeling the universe takes sick pleasure in 'piling on'?

I've felt very overwhelmed of late with family responsibilities (one @ 15 months and a second due in April), work responsibilities (a never ending project list), and volunteer responsibilities (trying to organize/source donations for an annual fundraising event) - So it only makes sense I'd get a promotion at work the same week I'm elected to serve a 3-year term on the Cyclone Gridiron Club Board.

I really need to learn how to not speak up when people as for help...

If you have screwy hours and I have you line up a time to meet with an IT consultant so you can coordinate what you need, don’t B at me when you line up “Monday morning” and he isn’t there when you show up.

I will correct the last part, it’s you do need to speak up when they ask for help and say no you can’t help.
