I witnessed someone fall in the parking lot this morning across from my building. Felt bad for them. A couple of hours later, I was walking back from the 4-H Extension Building and biffed it in my parking lot, on camera. So now my coworkers have video of me going feet over head.

I was selected for jury duty a couple of years ago. I ended up parking in the wrong ramp so I had to go move my car in order to get reimbursed for the parking. After I got my car moved, I slipped and fell on some ice from someone who dumped their beverage that later froze. Luckily a bystander was able to help me up and I dragged myself back to the courthouse in pain.

Luckily, when I was moving my vehicle, I got called for a civil trial that was going to last for a few months. Because I wasn't available, they chose somebody else. I ended up with a criminal trial that was over in day or two. A little pain from the fall was better than spending a few months on jury duty.

You thought KC flight was long. Terminal 1 at JFK is the main international terminal. It had an electrical fire this morning that has it closed until at least tomorrow afternoon.

16 hours in flight to just end up back where you started.

The vixen and I filled KC and Papa Lew’s seats last night for the Clones’ win over the Horny Toads (the vixen’s term). Was good to see them focused and successful once again.
She’d told me to go say hi, but due to an appointment rescheduled twice, I wasn’t able to attend. And I know how “wonderful” WiFi is in Hilton, I didn’t even try to send you a message. Besides @NWICY says he doesn’t usually even try to check CF during games.
Hope you had a great time and stayed warm on the way home!

My apologies @SCyclone I was there but had been on the road all wk and forgot that was the game you were coming to. Totally forgot to come over and say hi.
It snowed a bunch today south of CR. Some of the side roads were less than stellar. Quit at dusk to save problems. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Isn't there an international terminal at Newark and LaGuardia?

Yeah but that would require different permitting, gate availability etc. They could absolutely land there in an emergency/alternate for weather but would they have been able to get off is another story.

Now they could have put on their thinking hats like this airline and bussed people a few hours.

Teetersboro, Stewart, Hartford, Atlantic City, and Philadelphia are all less than 130 miles.

I guess re-routing this type of flight is probably a lot of work and would require some truly creative thinking and diligence by multiple people so I get it but, man, what a pain.

The bigger thing is which of those airports can even handle a 787? Maybe Philly? It's a widebody so it take different gate equipment. It's not diverting a 737 from Omaha to Des Moines. Add in not having the correct staff even remotely available, no agreement with that airport, an airplane at the wrong airport, etc.

While it sucks for a bunch of people, it's probably the decision with the least amount of overall risk.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm actually learning some stuff today.

Also now that you have diverted and hopefully connected your passengers on to their destination (at your cost) you now have a 787 out of place and a crew timed out for a day or two. The $ just keep adding up.

I'm fasting today (multiple reasons) and I made the mistake of clicking on the sandwich shop thread.
Not a good idea? My fasting day was Wednesday. I still haven't clicked on any thread title with food in it :)

Yeah, international flights have different rules. Immigration/customs make it more difficult to land at alternative airports, especially for foreign nationals coming here.
