Think I'm going to go on a run after the men's game. Should be able to stay out of the wind mostly.

Just did a weather check by stepping out on porch in pajamas. Damn, dat wind. Might go with Level 4 face n head gear. Definitely need more that Level 3 and not think 3.5 is going to cut it (Level 3 mask pulled over nose). And pull out the insulated bike/running pant's with some long johns underneath.

Cross country and snow shoe events at park next door are cancelled, too cold, so should not be crowded.

All this roaming around backroads for our daily geocache has had an unexpected side benefit. Our local pheasant population has been decimated by loss of habitat and dogs allowed to disturb nesting sites. We have been seeing huge flocks of 30+ birds nearly every day (in different directions from home base). Pretty cool - it's more pheasant in the last 5 weeks than I have seen in the past 10 years.

Is there one in your area that you can't find? I have found the dozen or so on my usual route for my walk but there's one that I've spent probably a few hours searching for cumulatively. People keep logging it so it's not lost... I get so frustrated

Yeah, there's a couple. Not just here, either. There are a couple in College Station that we have tried for multiple times on our visits down there.

We just completed an alphabet challenge in Story County, and are working on a challenge to each other to get (at least) one cache per day for 2021. Right now we're hitting stuff locally, and limiting ourselves to one per day so that we don't run out of options. When the weather gets better, we'll take the RV and go camping around the region. That will give us more opportunities. :)

Windy chill is -26. Winds gusting to 29 mph. Rethinking walkabout but feel I should at least go out for a couple of miles.

Contributing factors, ISU on TV at 11:00 and ISU on TV at 2:00. That's prime walkie time.
We moved our usual 0630 walk back to 0800. We didn't go over the bridge and to the park like we usually do on a Saturday. That would have been a might too exposed. Was cold and windy but when properly bundled not too bad. I did break out the lobster gloves for the first time this season, though.

Thank God for flannel lined jeans.

Just got back from 3 mile walkabout. DND. Went Level 4 face and hat gear. Glad I did when I got to east shore of Theo Wirth Lake with wind gusts out of the west in the 30's. Was glad to get back into the wooded trail and a little bit more shelter.

All was good at work till my last stop that was all exposed to the north, didn't take long to get cold there. Left the vehicle run at least it didn't take too long to thaw back out.

BC hope your repair wasn't too terrible.

Not terrible. I dumped like 10k into this nice controller in 2002, nobody ever uses it right. They use 10% of its capacity. Would make life easier if they taught their workers how to run them.

I meant to ask - what's the GC number on the one you can't get?

it's not Shawshank Redemption, but I'm a sucker for watching Top Gun whenever it is on.
