Wait, are you telling me you all have an ISU alumnus elected to office in Iowa that I won't be ashamed to claim as a Cyclone?
I just had a fun conversation via "Kids Messenger" with one of my granddaughters! It's an app that is monitored by the parents. The parent establishes the link and then it works like Facebook messenger where you can send pictures, text, and links. Bonus - I can access it on my computer, so I can use a regular keyboard to chat with her. Typing long conversations on my phone is my personal version of hell on earth.

An update: Update: They are not going to call on me or recognize me as long as I am wearing denim.
People blocking the diesel pump piss a lot of people off. Mostly Illinois drivers that do this. It's the first pump when you pull in so they do it out of convenience, but it's designed that way so bigger trucks can get in and out easily.

Also, MIL now seems to call my phone first.
1). I’m the in-law, I should be after the kids
2). My first name would be last in alphabetical order for those she would call
3). If going by actual number, my number would be last.
4). I have strong suspicions that I’m also considered to be the biggest pain in the ass (they are image people and I’m too blunt for them), so they don’t like to hear what I say. So this would seem I’d be last.
Not sure what I did to get this privilege

Actually she is kinda looney right now. Something is off. It’s like she has UTIs but doesn’t have them when they test. Wife had me read some of her tests and maybe there is a blood sugar issue there. It seems to get worse throughout the day. She doesn’t sleep much either. She was diagnosed with old age Parkinson’s.
When she has a spell, they say it’s best to not correct her. I struggle with that concept so it’s best to let th kids handle it. Her son is the sole POA (he is concerned about the money so he fights anyone else also being one) so I figure he can do the work if he wants it so bad. Part of me is just wore out since I did it all for my mom for so many years, I just don’t want that responsibility now.
I can relate to this. The vixen is one of four children - when her father died last fall, the only son (the vixen refers to him as "the Chosen One") and the youngest immediately became locked in a power struggle over control of the estate. (The mother is suffering from some dementia also, and really doesn't have input.)
It's always been about the money. The vixen and her other sister don't care at all about that, they'd much rather have their Dad back. As Pants so eloquently stated, it's sad.
Pretty similar here except there isn’t an estate struggle. Wife’s brother has been bailed out by the parents a couple times (although they make 150k/year) so he is concerned that he will lose inheritance since he gets 85-90% of the whole estate. Lately she has been at her assisted living apartment and she calls saying she is at random people’s houses and needs a ride home.
Is it just me, or is the lady in the State Farm ad that appears here dressed a little too provocatively for her profession?

Well, if she's the agent and that is her choice of work clothing...
Not super provocative, but it doesn't exactly hit the "professional attire" marker for me.
Then again, I'm kind of old-fashioned about things at times. Work clothes, date night clothes, and church clothes are all very different looks to me.
