Raising Canes Sucks

Wait. Quiznos is still a thing?!?

Still have the pepper bar??
They are still around, not as many as there used to be, but they are around. Been a few years since I actually ate at one.

They used to really advertise but now you never see an add for them. Seems weird. They are slowly disappearing, and it might be that they never advertise anymore that is hurting them.

In fact I am pretty sure there was one in Urbandale in the last year or so, but see it is gone now.

Their website shows only 3 left in Iowa.

edit: nvm for some reason their national map didnt show all the locations. There are more. puting in the metro area on their search still shows 3 in metro, and the Urbandale one still open.

Ha, theres one in Urbandale next to the Super Target (still 3 in metro that I know of). Their hours haven't been as good since Covid and we haven't been back in awhile, but yeah still around. Contrary to some, I do like their sandwiches and don't understand how so many closed down. They have good sandwiches with decent flavor. A bar to the side with condiments? I think? I don't eat peppers like I used to in order to answer your question.

I never did have their wings, may have to give them a try in the future. I just don't like driving to campus town when students are in Ames since it's a bigger cluster. Never had West Cyde Wings either. When did that go out?
WDM has 2 of them. 50th & Mills and Jordan Creek Pkwy & Vista. We hit up the 50th & Mills about once a month or so. Way better than Subway and closer than Jersey Mikes, Jimmy John's, or Capriotti's if we don't feel like driving too far. Sadly the pepper bar went away with Covid.

Every good sandwich chain seems to grow rapidly, then reduce quality, then fade away.

The franchiser in Quiznos was screwing the franchisees on costs. Basically everything in the store had to be purchased through Quiznos and couldn’t use an outside supplier, despite being vastly cheaper. I know there were a lot of law suits between the franchiser and franchisees over the issues.

Subway was doing something similar if I recall. Certain franchisees wanted to get fresh produce more than once a week and were reaching out to local producers and Subway slapped their hands.

I had a childhood similar to yours, but am pickier now that I can be - I have more resources and don’t have a 5-year-old’s palate anymore. I think this may be a false equivalency.

Elitist bragging right here!

I eat with a 10 year old every day, or eat what I can get while working. That and the Guard pretty much made my palate into "hey, there's food right there."

Are you saying Pizza Ranch is bad, or Kwik Star is that good?
Neither is bad, had both within a week at two different events and I was pleasantly surprised at how good Kwik Star was. On another note I actually had the whole chicken from Kwik Star Monday and thought it was better than rotisserie chicken from Costco which is better than Sam's version.
