Rahshon: Square Peg in Round Hole?

I love Rashon Clark. I really think the man can just flat out play... and hustle... and score. You're right though, he got caught up in an offensive transformation that he's willing to learn all over again. It still makes me exited for the future though. Last night (at times) we had 3 freshman, who were playing "high-school" basketball still earlier this year... and 2 juniors out on the floor. And to keep a game that close against the #3 team in the land on their home court... just wows me to death! :o)

If Rahshon does not score but 10, then you depend on Mike to hit 20 plus and Dodie to do 10. Is that the problem on this thread? To be legit, you weant three double figure scorers and we are not there. ISU will play manyu games in the fifties since they will burn the clock down. So we will have fewer shots. So we need to shoot better balls. If we shoot 24%, we should not be shooting. No brainer. Since Rahshon brings so much hustle and defense to the table and rebounding skill, he pays his way. It is our center position that is killing us. We give up 10 pooints down the middle a game and we only score 6-10 points from the position. Corey looked like our best center in two years. Devan is number two. marsden is almost on the radar. Jiri fell off on his first game back.

Yes, the problem I see is it makes us nervous that we can count on about 50 points a game. That puts the pressure on to hold the opponents down. Well, that is the way McD played ball at UNI. Defense first, sert plays to shorten the game, and then hang on with timeouts at the end.

Rahshon will not score 20 a game. Mike did. Dodie will. Wesley can. Marsden can shoot if he can ever get physically well. Do not count on breakout scoring efforts from Jiri, Devan, Corey, or Cory. EWveryboduy has a role. We saw an OSU team that had lots of scoring options. We are much more limited in scoring options. It will get better.

I think his offensive numbers will improve if he will just shoot the mid range jumper. I think everyone will improve if they shoot the mid range jumper. I really liked what Doug Gottlieb had to say while announcing the Bradley game. Shoot the mid range jumper instead of relying on the three. Start making those and threes will follow.

It's not Rashon, it's the team around him. Rashon is a great athlete. He's this team's Stevie Johson. He needs better basketball talent around him and he doesn't have that right now. It will get better. Stevie's best year was his senior year and I think the same will be said of Rashon.

Stevie Johnson is EXACTLY what I was thinking when reading this thread. In my opinion Rahshon got a ton of love last year because he was one of the few guys who was playing team basketball and giving it his all every game. I always thought he was a good guy and good player but didn't really know why everyone thought he was going to be a superstar...I guess it was all of his cool dunks. He's a great guy to have on our team, that's for sure.

Stevie's best year was when the coaching staff finally figured out that he was a 6'4 power forward and not a small forward. I wonder if Rashon wouldn't benefit from playing closer to the basket too.

Rahshon had some nice post moves down on the low block earlier in the year, basically just turning and jumping over his defenter from 5-8 feet or so (does anyone else remember these?). I'd like to see the offense get the ball to him in that position about two times per half. I think some decent shot opportunities like that could easily get him into a rhythym where his 3-point shot will follow.

I've seen "post" moves out of CJ, Rahshon, and Jessan. We might as well try and expand their post repertoire instead of trying to force it on others (a la Jiri or Marsden).

Maybe he is not as accepting of McD's coaching as he should be, or maybe it just isn't helping... who knows? I wish someone at a press conference would bring this up!
I think Rashon is filling a role that the team needs. He is our premier team player, so I am sure he is trying to do all that is asked of him. The kid has a great attitude. For some reason, his three's aren't dropping like they were, but I agree with other posts that part of that is the guard play. Will and Curtis could draw defenders with them as they penetrated, and leave Clark with wide open shots.

Does he play Football?? I say put him opposite Blyth.

edit: not that I don't like him as a basketball player I do, just something stupid I was thinking about after watching the last few games for some reason
