Quoting the first post in a thread

Why? Think about it. (Yes, I have caught myself doing it too)
When I hit the "reply" button, it automatically quotes the original post, I have no choice. I've looked around the site to see if I have selected a setting somewhere that makes it do it but have found none. When replying to a post it's a pain to go back and delete the quoted original post so I just live with it.

I find it unnecessary. A logical person would assume that you're talking about the original topic unless you otherwise note it. I find it easier just to say "op" when referring to the first topic and then quote anyone else that I may be referring to throughout the thread. The only exception would be if it's a discussion about Optimus Prime, because then using OP could get confusing.

Scroll down further to the "quick reply" mode. Won't have that problem.
