I thought he handled all the questions extremely well. It sounds like he's committed to staying at ISU even if he's unable to play this season.
Very excited to have Royce White here & it looks like Coach Hoiberg & staff did a thorogh job vetting him. But I am a little concerned about some of Royce's answers concerning his past "issues." To me, it looks like he is almost playing a victim. His comments about facing hurdles and being in the wrong place at the wrong time make is seem like he doesn't take much (or any) responsibility for what happened; like those things were unavoidable life situations that he has had to overcome.
I hope I'm wrong and that I'm reading into his reponse too far, but it would sure make me feel better if he came out and plainly said that he made mistakes and that he has taken full responsibility for his actions and is apologetic for what he has done.
Am I off base on this?
EDIT: After listening to Hoiberg's interview, I feel better. Fred commented multiple times that Royce has taken full responsibility for his actions and isn't blaming anyone or anything else.......that's what I was hoping for. On another note, I have to remember this is an 18-19 year old kid in front of a large press contingency. I can only imagine what kind of responses I would have given at that age.

While I don't know all the details of his arrest, I thought just the opposite. He didn't want to blame his mistakes on "hanging out with the wrong crowd." Instead he took ownership of the issue and said that he needs to make better decisions and not put himself in bad situations.

Hopefully he has learned his lesson.
Keep in mind that he also state "his decision making." You can be caught up in a bad deicsion based on being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Those things can impact your insight.
I felt overall the answers were solid. It certainly sounds like the staff went through every issue with him in detail as well.
There are expectations in place. If he meets and exceeds them, awesome for us and for him. If does not, ISU will move forward with they have in place for disciplinary actions.
Hopefully his past transgressions made an impact on him for the positive.
I thought this question and answer stood out as well. I took it as a poor response when I read it. I think it is open to interpretation. I took his response as being "My friends and I weren't doing anything wrong. It was all a bad coincidence." To me, that sounds like he is avoiding any responsibility.
All in all. Good interview and he is saying the right things for the most part.
I particularly like to hear talk of winning a Big XII championship.

I trust CFH and his staff's vetting process to determine if this young man is ready to turn his life in a positive direction. If they didn't believe he was I trust they would not have signed him.
I hesitate to read too much into an answer to an interview question. Even a question from the best interviewer in the business. I just have a hunch that Coach was a little more thorough in his evaluation.

Anyone who does not want Royce is not right. I am sick of this attitude that we are the squeeky clean team that loses. Let's take a chance and win like we did in the past. Tinsley=not squeeky clean. Troy Davis, Jared homan, Mike Taylor, Kenny Pratt, and about 10 other guys who were not squeeky clean. give me a break our greatest two coaches ever Larry and Johnny were both pretty much drunks. Anyone who went to ISU during the Johnny Orr years knows what he was like when he would get drunk and wreck Benson Chevy's cars.
