Purdy Update

Embarrassing how the announcers went off on Purdy's game last night. Gushing. Like they were completely stunned by the level of his play. Like they were seeing something that no one before them had seen, of the kid.
".......Purdy completed 17 of 24 passes....." Of the 7 incompletions, 2 were dropped. 3-4 he clearly threw in the grass. Two were blocked at the line of scrimmage. There needs to be a better, more accurate manner of describing his game.
The thing I don't understand is why there's still so much doubt about Purdy. People keep saying things like "Purdy doesn't have to do anything because the 9'er's have such a stacked offense" or "Purdy hasn't beat anybody in a shootout and he doesn't seem capable of scoring a bunch in a shootout." Hopefully after his near perfect completion percentage last week and him just beating up the Cowgirls last night the haters are going to be quiet.
So out of the 7 incompletions, 8 weren't his fault?
Right now I think there can only be one legit "knock" on Purdy and that is Shanahan's offense. Yes the Niners have talent all over the field (good oline, Aiyuk, Kittle, McCaffrey, Deebo) but more importantly Shanahan understands how to manipulate defenders and create open spaces/receivers. If you watch a lot of their plays there are often MULTIPLE open options. I've seen a few times were Purdy hits a shorter throw when someone like Kittle (saw one last night where Kittle was open down the seam for an easy TD) is open for a bigger gain but it rarely matters as there are opportunities on the next play.
Basically Shanahan's offense is predicated on knowing where the windows will be, making quick reads, and being accurate with throws. I'm sure a lot of the (true) top 10 QBs could thrive in this situation but guess what? They aren't in it. Moreover, for being a 2nd year guy Purdy has a phenomenal grasp of the offense, immense respect from his coaches and teammates (you see it weekly), and gets the ******* job done. He's also adept at throwing on the run/rollouts, something Shanahan loves to utilize in his playbook. It also comes in handy when Purdy enacts his better than average pocket presence to escape would be sacks. And when he can't? He knows when to live "for the next play".
There's a guy named Drew Brews who had a HOF career never being a guy that was tall enough, fast enough, or with a super strong arm. If you can read the defense, quickly release, and be accurate, you will have a long and illustrious career in the NFL.

It is really interesting to see the balls he purposefully throws down the field into the grass, on tight coverages. He is not taking a sack/fumble, nor risking a turnover. Looks like he has been told his scrambling days are over.Shanahan has a similar take.

Don't know what change the OLine/play calls made, but the two in a row batted down balls came to an abrupt end.
