Prove them wrong... again

It's kind of a weird viewpoint to say you should hope to draw ISU, but also when we looked bad last season, we still made the S16 and could do it again. So...do you really want to draw a team that played better in the Tourney last year than it did to end it's conference slate?

I certainly agree with him on his other picks. I still think we're a team nobody is going to want to face with the way we play. But I'm obviously biased

Iowa State's defense alone will be a HUGE problem for most teams in the big dance. Big 12 teams are more comfortable playing against it since the entire league plays defense. Wanting to play one of the top defenses in the country is certainly a take.

ISU has gotten lit up by a couple of non-B12 teams and can be leaky on the perimeter.

Ratings are similar but I trusted ISU's defense more so last year.

Hopefully it evens out to get a match up that allows more space like Baylor this past Saturday; they've been way softer this year.

Yes, Iowa and Missouri. Iowa's hot shooting was all in the first ten minutes, we just dug ourselves in a HUGE hole offensively. The Mizzou game is what it is, we were missing Grill and we were just off.

When it comes to postseason basketball I always believe that we can win what's in front of us. The magic of single elimination tournaments and of course, March, does strange things sometimes

An informal observation/blanket statement, but could work in ISU's favor: There seems to be a tendency in tournament for officiating to be a bit less stringent -- "let them play" instead of calling a foul on every contact. At least early in games. Maybe that at least helps us avoid early foul trouble.

TBH, I don't see much to argue with that. If you're going up against a 6 seed, it isn't like you should be expecting a bubble level team. So if you're going to go up against a fringe top 25 team, ISU would be a team that I'd favor if I were the opposing coach. The Jekyll and Hyde aspect of ISU would be something I'd be excited about as an 11 seed.

It isn't saying that ISU is one of the worst teams in the tournament. It's saying that we're vulnerable when compared to a 6 seed normally would be.

Sigh. If we win games in KC or the tournament, I hope we don't trot out the "nobody believed in us!" narrative. It's the most overused, and misused, trope in sports.

Nobody believed in us because we spent the latter half of the conference season looking like a team nobody should believe in.
How about 'We've got a chip on our shoulder"?

IMO you never want to face strong defensive teams in March. Defense travels, it is the all-offense teams that seem ripe for upsets when they have a cold night.
You also don't want to play teams with experienced senior guards either.

GK was obviously here for the Sweet 16 run last year. But JH also had a deep run with the Bonnies in last year's NIT, beating Colorado, Oklahoma and Virginia along the way to the NIT Final 4.

We're tourney seasoned overall and coupled with the "D" you mentioned above and having played one of the toughest schedules, definitely not a team you'd want to draw.

I deleted the post because my intent wasn't to pick a fight, least of all with you as the OP. I just don't have a problem with analysis like his that says, "yup, they've been bad....but they've been good too so it could go either way." It's not an analyst's job to "believe" in your team.
