I am taking my 9 year old to the Principal Charity Classic tomorrow. I have never been to it and have never been to Wakonda.

2 main questions

1. What is the best way to get in from the north. Should I just come down 235 and MLK or is there better ways to get in?

2. What is a good place to watch? Specific tee boxes or greens? Or am I just better off wandering around the course with him trying to find specific players? Which most likely will keep him the most entertained.

Thanks

Close to a beer tent.

This is how it was last year. Doubt it changed but you may want to confirm.

1. Yes come down MLK and continue south onto Fleur. You'll want to park at AIB (err State of Iowa Regents University for Eastern Iowa University, or whatever it's called now).
Get on a shuttle and they'll take you right the entrance.

2. I like walking around but if you want to stop for a while, I'd recommend hole 17. Long par 3 with the tee box elevated and water in front of the green.
I think that is a really cool hole to either watch the tee box or around the green. I'm not sure if the green seats are corporate boxes or not though.

Spectator parking is at SouthRidge Mall. AIB is for VIP parking, unless you can sneak in and not get caught.

Thanks for the heads up guys. 17 sounds intriguing as that's the kind of hole I was wanting to watch.

My tickets are coming from Principal and I think I have a VIP parking pass. Either spot is easy anyways.

Looking forward to tomorrow.

One other question are there good options for eating there during the day? The kid is constantly hungry!

Here is a link to the map: Link

Most of the action is in the north part of the course. As others have said, 17 is a cool hole. It has a grand stand surrounding the green, but I think it is more fun to watch that hole from the tee. That's the hole Fred got his hole in one on.

There is party deck at the 14th green. Thats a cool spot because you have the 14th and the 11th greens right there. The 14th hole is also a great par 3 to watch. It seems like we usually start hanging out here, and when a group that comes through on the 11th green interests us we'll follow them through the rest of the course. Plus the tee on the 17th is just a short walk from this area. In the past there have been a bunch of stands as you enter the front gate where the bus drops you off with maps, free stuff, water, and, most importantly, beer.
