Please give us refs who do not impact the outcome of the game! This conference is too close and too good for one-sided calls. If one team is in the bonus and the other team has two fouls you are not doing your profession justice!
That's all I have to say about that.

The bolded statement is absolutely wrong. That kind of thinking is what can make games in the past against West Virginia lopsided.

The important thing is being consistent. If something is a foul on one team, its a foul on another team. If one team is far more aggressive and physical, they are probably going to commit more fouls.

Well NOW you've gone and cursed us for sure. The Ref Gods will certainly smite us again now.

IF one team is more aggressive than the other, you are correct...... that was not the case against West Virginia. The Big 12 refs have often confused our reputation for aggressive defense for hack jobs...... or starting out making statements to us. We reach in too much, leave our feet more often than we should, and MAYBE try for too many charge fouls. But, those aren't the calls I am referring to.
I respect TJs stand on the refs and the West Virginia game......I am just asking for refs who LET BOTH TEAMS PLAY.

Yeah, what usually happens if they think like you think, they try to keep the fouls in a West Virginia game much closer together even though West Virginia is usually far more aggressive.

By the way, in the second West Virginia game, Iowa State got called for 25 fouls and WVU got called for 20. Thats not an huge difference, so I take it that you were okay with the officiating in that game?

Actually, I was. Not only is the Big 12 considered the "best" conference...... it's also considered the roughest!

Here's what I am looking for:

Don't start out letting everything go to the point it has become dangerous for both potential injuries and potential frustration outbursts, only to realize you are not maintaining control and THEN start calling ticky tacks.
I believe players (and coaches) DO need to adjust, be consistent so they can adjust.

Please let the refs in the correct position make the call...... do not let the ref in the INCORRECT position over turn calls.

Please do not let one coach ride your ear all game. Set your boundaries with them also..... no matter which coach it may be.

It's late in the season in a tough league, set your boundaries and then LET THEM PLAY!

It's a hard gig and I know calls will be missed and be wrong..... but in this league I would think calls should be pretty equal.

Bottom line: you have to be good enough to beat the other team and the refs if necessary.

Let's not be whiners like this weiner.

Yeesh. Those two are pathetic to watch. Their voices are deceiving to a way. I thought Locked On was pretty good but it's clearly not the case for all their stuff.

Conflating foul disparity with unfair refereeing is one of my pet peeves. Let's face it-- we are a "grabby" defensive team. I don't think even TJ would disagree with that. Our defensive model is based on making people uncomfortable.

I think we also need to face the fact that dribble penetration isn't exactly our offensive game. There's alot of working it around the perimeter and jump shooting that goes on. That's not conducive to getting the other team in foul trouble.

It is amazing what this fan base has evolved into. Blame the refs for every loss and the belief that a technical on TJ is going to drastically change officiating.

I don't spend much time lurking on other team sites, but I'd imagine it's not just us. In any event, it's gotten absurd.

We tend to go on a stretch in second half where we pick up 4 bonehead fouls on the same possession. If we are going to play the defense we do, have to avoid these possessions, worthless fouls that provide no benefit that get opponent into bonus by 12m mark.

I agree that the fouls have to be even atttitude is a big problem. Huggins loves it. His teams push grab and hack and often get a disparity of fouls and he complains about it like crazy. Many soft headed refs then find a way to "even it up" which usually means calling ticky tack stuff on the other end. So WVU gets to play more physical than everyone else throwing teams off their game and then they also get ticky tack calls at the other end: win-win.

No thanks.
