Potential Transfers '14

USC was brutal. I'd take BDJ over Wesley all day long.

Not that I'm saying I'd trade BDJ for Wesley, but your post is idiotic at best. We've had great success with players that played on horrible teams. Kane being the most recent example, but Babb, Jake Anderson and likely Nader would all fall into the category of players that came from teams that weren't very good.

Absolutely. And you can add Clyburn to that list.

Good players can play on crappy teams. Deandre Kane at Marshall is a perfect example. Time will tell who ends up being the better player, but I'm happy with BDJ being a Cyclone

I followed Kane and Marshall pretty closely pre ISU. They were actually supposed to be a really good team but they horribly underachieved his last year at Marshall the year before when they made the NIT they were solid and one of those teams on the up and returned everyone.

Something was wrong. Year before that or 2 years I remember Hassan Whiteside declaring early killed them but it wasn't that year they had literally everyone back from a good young NIT team. Kane was part of that he just shows what coaching can do Fred improved his stroke and gave him the confidence he needed. Hes very good player but I'm not sure Kane would have been has good if he transferred to some other P5 school for his senior year.

The star of a bad team at the D1 level is usually a productive player anywhere. If you put up double digits anywhere your probably the same type of player Texas Tech or TCU trots out there. (Overall.)

You can take these guys to be depth players no questions asked but if they want to be starters they have to be better than what you have Wesley absolutely isn't good enough to show up in Ames and play the role Kane did. If you won't give him that role you don't go after him. BDJ is talented enough to jump over Morris and Long on the depth chart.

Antonio Barton almost transferred to Syracuse last year there was an open scholarship and one true incoming freshman PG on the roster. Boeheim absolutely would have started him over Ennis instead of starting 25-0 (before seriously collapsing of course) with a lottery pick at PG we'd probably have started 20-5 and been a bubble team maybe even NIT with a Cooney-Barton back court. THese transfers aren't always better

There is wayyyy too much stupid in this post to address but I'll try..."If you put up double digits anywhere your probably the same type of player Texas Tech or TCU trots out there." --We have had guys that average 8 points per game that teams like TCU and Tech would die to have on their team! "BDJ is talented enough to jump over Morris and Long on the depth chart." LMAO...BDJ is good, but there isn't a snow balls chance in hell that BDJ takes Monte's spot in the starting line up. Even with DeAndre averaging 16/7/6, Monte started for the last three months of the year. Monte set a record for assist to turnover ratio last year...I'm doubting Fred brings him in as the 6th man next year...LOL @ YOU!

And the last paragraph is just idiotic. A coach as good as Jim B will always find the best talent and put them on the floor. Barton wasn't great at Memphis, there's no reason to think he would have been a for sure starter at 'Cuse.

Still not sure what your point was exactly but your grammar and punctuation was pizz poor!

You used "we" to describe Syracuse...

I'd be curious to see your scouting reports for Wesley and BDJ.

His named was tossed around here a little while back but...

@GoodmanESPN: Cincinnati transfer Jermaine Lawrence is headed to manhattan, source told ESPN. HUGE get for Steve Masiello.

I thought receiving his undergrad degree from Kentucky would be Masiello's huge get.

Craig Brackins was a great player on a crap team. Wesley Johnson did good at Syracuse. You can get good players on crap teams.

He was not "great", he contributed to the crap as much as everyone else did.
Craig was a player with potential for greatness. It was largely untapped because of a "messed up" system & coach that didn't know how to maximize his talents. Can you imagine what Craig's game could have been like under CFH's tutelage?

Really. He was all big 12. I would call that great. He was a great college player. You should have watched him play. Nobody could guard him in college. His game just didnt translate. Also he was a top 25 pick in the NBA. I would call that great.

I agree. The system appeared to be more important than what actually worked best for the players we had.

He was very good. He looked like a pro in college.
