Potential Transfers '14

I know another guard doesn't make sense but I just saw that Christophe Varidel is leaving Chain are and can play right away

@TravisHines21: Elsewhere in recruiting news: ISU had in-home visits with both Henry Ellenson (WI, '15) and Ryan Anderson (BC transfer) today, per a source.

It kinda surprises me people don't remember Farnold. It wasn't that long ago.
I have been a fan my entire life (am 36) And can remember nearly every player in the late 80's Orr era though Eustachy and then it gets foggier from Morgan-McDermott. They really sucked the hope out of the program. I still watched but didn't know the entire roster and who was sitting out nor was that invested in the players like I do now and did with Orr, Floyd and Eustachy and the guys I knew at the time have been forgotten because they didn't really form lasting memories associated with great games or great seasons. Why do I remember Paul Doerfield and not Farnold is more a reflection of the state of the program when they played and how much fans cared than when it was.

I know what you are saying. It is similar to someone's mind blocking out a traumatic experience in their past. I have the same memory lapse with my Kansas City Royals... I don't hardly remember any players for the Royals after 1990.

Bruce Pearl is trying to be Fred Hoiberg.

@GoodmanESPN: Auburn has landed Marshall transfer Kareem Canty, he told ESPN. Big-time pickup for Bruce Pearl and the Tigers.

Smart move by Pearl. This isn't rocket science. You take the best players available period. With traditional HS recruiting, it takes a minimum of 2 years for your recruiting to actually come to fruition.

Transfers is by far the best way to get talent at a down trodden program, instantly.

So I'm bored at work and I was doing some Twitter creeping and I found that Doc Sadler still follows Josh Cunningham. Probably doesn't mean anything but its interesting to see.

Doc is also old and probably has never unfollowed anyone unless they were tweeting naughty stuff too often.

Justus Thigpen redshirted his freshman year.

Redshirts do happen sporadically. Fred redshirted SDW, so he is obviously not completely opposed to the concept. Also, SDW was a well regarded recruit, offered by the likes of Michigan.

All that said, I agree that the baseline assumption should be that a redshirt year is a nonstarter - usually fom the perspective of both the player and the program.

Another interesting name (not sure if it has been mentioend) is Javontae Hawkins. He's a former top 150 recruit that I believe we were recruiting out of high school. He's from Flint and I believe he's friends with Monte. His production levels at USF weren't very good, but if he could take a redshirt and have two years left me may be able to contribute. From what I see, it looks like he may have been hurt some last year which could have affected his production.

@JeffEisenberg: Schools vying for USC transfer Byron Wesley per his AAU coach: Cincy, Baylor, Indiana, Providence, Gonzaga, Michigan State, Pitt, OK State.

I never saw that ISU was interest but his name was discussed in this thread.

@GoodmanESPN: Duke has received a commitment from Rice big man Sean Obi, he told ESPN. Will sit out and have three years left.

@franfraschilla: Ouch. NBA guys like this St. Anthony's kid. Oregon State guard Hallice Cooke plans to transfer - http://t.co/GLvWO971Fj

I am becoming more intrigued by Cooke. Got to think CFH will at least give a call to see if there is mutual interest.
