Potential Transfers '14

Idk about Chiles. Undersized 2-guard who would only eat into Naz and MT's minutes. Doesn't really provide mismatches...I'd rather them not pursue him, to be honest. In my mind,it should be a game changer or bust.
I doubt we are going after guys that they think would not be good enough to get playing time. Plus, we are not going to leave two scholarships open.

Ian Chiles Video for those who are interested... Ian can shoot the three and isn't shy about shooting it.
I can see Fred being interested though I would guess he would be a secondary target if B D-J recruitment doesn't work out.

Dang it Fred, get off CF and get back to coaching! I'm tired of it! :jimlad:

I really like the looks of Chiles. Undersized, yes, but he has the elevation and sudden-ness to get his shot off regardless. He wouldn't be the game breaker that BDJ is, but he'd be a reliable 3rd or 4th scorer and I'll never turn one of those down.

Am I the only one that think Chiles has one goofy-looking sideways-twisted fade-away? One thing that is for certain if he were to come to ISU is that CFH could help him a ton on his shot mechanics. Kane had somewhat of the same fade-away tendencies when he got here and CFH worked that out of him pretty well and the results speak for themselves.

I agree that if BJD is a no-go, then Chiles should become a priority. McGee wasn't exactly a huge guard and I think we all agree we would take him back in a heart beat.

How does an athletic director "blocking" a transfer actually work? We've been told that scholarships are renewed on a year to year basis. Couldn't a student transfer to a blocked school by just dropping out and applying to another school whether it was his previous school's preference or not? He has to sit out a year regardless, but I don't understand what mechanism the player's old school AD holds that can prevent him from transferring anyplace he wants.

I'd rather have that Niagara guy as #2.

I don't think he said he is transfering yet. So if we are just picking random guys who have not announced they are transfering. I want that freshman from Kentucky. You know the one.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure he has said he's wanting to see his NBA draft status before announcing whether or not he is transferring. If he wasn't planning on transferring, he probably wouldnt have added in that last part.

I'd take BJD as my #1 choice, but I'd rather take the field for #2 and wait for a bigger impact guy to come out that fits us than any guy I have seen talked about.

BJD would be great to fill an immediate hole. Chiles or Mason would be great back-up plans too. Huff would be amazing to fill the loss of Hogue/Edozie/Percy the following year.

I said this in the Percy thread too, but I think we get one graduate transfer and 2 guys to sit out now. Buddy system as usual.

We have two needs, so I still see us preferring two guys that can play and one redshirt. As usual, it depends on the talent we can get. We can be selective enough that I could even see the staff holding a spot open. I think there are transfers late summer and even mid-year that we would want and have a lot less competition for. We got lucky with McKay, and even Kane.

Personally, I think if we get BJD then the other two schollys should go to traditional sit a year transfers. While another post would be nice next year, we will have plenty of talent on the court at all times.

@JucoRecruiting: Octavius Ellis (6'10/F/2014) of Trinity Valley CC has been released from his NLI with Arizona State.

Was a 3 star in 2011 went to Cincy.

Had FG% of 66.8 and swatted 75 (!!!) shots.
