Ponder this…

Texas Tech now has three wins in the league all over top 15 teams.

Oklahoma is now alone in last place at 2-10 and they beat the #1 team in the country. Not beat. Destroyed by 24.

This league is just stupid good.

I think it also shows just how important effort, motivation, and timing is in CBB, on a nightly basis. OU had been getting stomped, had lost 3 in a row and suddenly had a shot at a redeeming win vs Bama. They come out focused and excited to play a big game at home, and Bama comes in basically worried about their conference race and not this pseudo exhibition game. OU thumps them. Very similar to ISU at Mizzou.

Play that OU vs Bama game in round 1 of the NCAA tournament, do you think it would be different? LOL.

Secondly, it shows how big home court is in CBB. In 62 Big12 games, home team has won 42 times (67%). And of the 20 home losses, 9 of them belong to OU and TT.

Shows the importance of taking advantage of opportunities and not letting them slip away. The meltdowns at TTU and at OSU will haunt us in our final conference standing, and possibly in our tourney seeding (as far as landing in DSM at least)
Yes, it sucks to squander leads, but Tech beating 3 ranked teams at home in a row - including the current conference front runner - is making that loss a little more understandable. There aren't any bad teams in the Big 12 and any team can beat any other team, especially when the underdog is playing at home.

Repeating and I don't care how 'low' this standard is but the way things have looked, just holding on for one more win (most likely in) or two (a lock if not just one) and getting in would be OK by me.

Then it's relax on Selection Sunday and hope for a favorable match up.

*I realize 16 wins might be enough but that feels more bubble/first fourish.

Our fans need to keep in mind that every team in the Big 12 has lost 2 or 3 games at one point in time....Baylor started 0-3 in conference play, Kansas at one point had a 3 game losing streak, TCU (mostly because of injuries), has struggled as of late...this conference is so deep that anyone can beat anyone

Tech has Aimaq back now too. A nice piece with Harmon and Obanor. They might sneak into the tourney

The 'anyone can beat anyone' deal fits most years in college basketball conference season for about any conference but this year I don't see any other conference bottom dwelling teams with a player like Obanor.
Huh? I guess that is true to point. Stanford just beat Arizona, but make no mistake about it, the "bottom" (there isn't one) of the Big 12 is WAY BETTER than the bottom 4-5 teams in the PAC, or any other conference for that matter. We have to go round robin against 9 good to great teams. No other league comes close to having to do that.

With how much success the conference had in the tournament last year, just getting in puts this team in position to make a run. Get a couple more wins to lock us in the tournament and every win after that is gravy.
We were hoping to be a bubble team at the beginning of the year so this season has already met my expectations.

That's what I'm saying with the Obanor reference.

About every year there's an interconference David/Goliath situation across the country but this year in particular even the bottom of the Big 12 is teams with dudes. There's a reason WV and Tech were favored vs. ISU.

There's no 'huh?' about it.

The league race looks more and more like a wrassling Battle Royale-death steel cage match each week. Sure hope everyone isn't mortally wounded by Tournament time!

I'm going with the steel sharpens steel theory as long as no one gets injured it will just make us (as a conference as well as individually) just that much harder to play. (I hope I'm right)

Texas Tech probably isn't out of the running for a bid. They'd have to win @WVU and @Oklahoma, plus home wins against OSU and TCU. Assuming they'd lose @Kansas. That'd make them 18-13 (7-11) going into the Big 12 tournament with a 6-11 record in Quad 1. Might get them on the bubble.

Is there a way every team can make it in? We all know the committee relies on NET rankings. If every team is above 68 and there are still spots open after AQ leagues, how do you keep any Big 12 team out? EVERY team has had a quad 1 win (May even be multiple), really no bad losses. Fran Fraschilla said that the worst Big 12 team is at least middle of the pack in any other conference.
