something is not adding up. Akron's stadium looks very nice for $61M. Maybe ISU is NOT in with some building companies, and they are in fact screwing us instead.
The difference is,I believe they already have all of the money donated for this project.
Its almost like they need to split the Endzone project up and just scrap the upper deck and suites for later. (that would save a ton of money) I would be interested in knowing what it would cost to just do the lower bowl in the South and the North Hills corners and upgrade the Audio and Video.
My guess it would be $10 Million for A/V (which would be an insane upgrade for us) and $20-25 Million for New seats and South Concourse? ( I don't know construction though)
...a lot more stuff...
I was scratching my head, too, about the $60 million figure, until you stated this point.
To add to JP's comment about the $60 million figure, he said something about a $5 million annual debt service for 20 years (I failed to mention the 20 years part when I paraphrased JP . . . did anyone else here mention it?). That adds up to, uh, let's see, I've got 20 fingers and toes, ah . . . yeah, that's $100 million.
That can't all be interest, can it? $100 million interest plus $60 million building costs, $160 million? That can't be.
Maybe JP meant a combined cost-interest of $5 million per year for 20 years . . . that's still $100 million.
JP was answering a question off the cuff, maybe he meant $60 cost and interest over 20 years, or $3 million per year for two decades?
Hope JP is on the call-in show Monday, it would be good to get him to clear this up for we interested fans.

I think the only way we see results is by splitting up the project and going a little cheaper also. Remember when people were having a frickin cow about how cheap and crappy the basketball facility was going to be. There is no complaining now and it may actually save our program. I think the same thing applies to Football right now. Just a thought.
PLUS....Like people are saying above. We really need to start putting a product on the field.

This is flat out not true. I hate to bring up a topic that was beat to death for weeks here but how many people would have shown up on November 28th (Saturday after Thanksgiving) to see 2 bottom dweller in the Big 12 play?
Remember, we couldn't even get 40,000 on that same date playing Missouri for a spot in the Big 12 title game on the line a few years prior.
The KC deal was an absolute no brainer for an AD that NEEDS money.
Maybe more monster truck racing events and WWE cage matches need to be held at Trice to pay for the renovations. I could see someone jumping off the upper deck into the steel cage, why not in Ames?
EDIT:
Found another. Standord build 50,000 - 90 Million
College Gridirons-Pac 10 Stadiums-Stanford Stadium-Stanford Cardinals
I must really be hell to renovate versus build new.
60 million did seem a bit high, but then again I'm no contractor.
I apologize if this has been mentioned. I wonder how the economy has affected the price tag of this project. Builders would LOVE to have a project like this right now and I can't help thinking that negotiations aren't possible. With that said, we need a donor(s)...

Everyone keeps talking about suites in the endzone plans. is that right? I don't remember ever hearing about more suites to be put into the south endzone as part of that project.
