Pollard on Cydline show?

The buildings are going to stay as far as i know. His presentation and posters had the Towers there, its the land directly east of towers where the track would be located, and eventually later down the road in phase two of the project a new softball field.

I figured that was the land he was talking about. Even with the Towers there that location probably has about 1/50th the visibility as the previously proposed location.

perhaps jamie is simply managing expectations a little here. it could be entirely possible that the donor is still close to a committment, but jamie sees all this rampant speculation and decided to knock expectations down a notch so when we do get the donation the fan base becomes that much more re-energized.

Wishful thinking?

I really don't have an opinion on your post, I just wanted an excuse to post this song on here. :biglaugh:

The whole mini-pack idea has killed the season-ticketholder base. Now they can go to games they want, and not be forced to commit to Cyclone Athletics as they did before. Now, they will be ****** if this was taken away. Minipacks should have never been implemented in the first place.

The 11k number is the total number sold at $350...which wouldn't include anyone under 30 who pays $195 for season tickets, cys-pack @$195 or anything else, hillside, mini-packs, etc. JP was commenting how much revenue it would take to service the debt on a $60m project. he then stated that only 11k people are paying 'full-price'.

This could be a more correct number (although it still seems low). 11k @ full price. 7-8k students, 2-3k under 30 alumni, 1-2k staff/faculty?, 3k endzone seats, 4-5k(?) hillside season tickets. That totals about 32k of total season tickets.

We sold more than 11k season tickets. I can't believe how many of you people are buying that just based on a message board comment with no source. We just had 3 consecutive season over 30k and several in the high 20s before that. You would have to go back a long time to find a season where we only sold 11k season tickets.

It's all in how it's presented. We probably didn't have much more than 11k @ $350 in each of the last two years, because a large portion of our season tickets are varsity packs, end zone tickets, and student passes. It kind of bothers me that he's playing a word game for dramatic effect with our own fanbase.

Also, why in the hell would it cost $60M to bowl in the endzone? That seems really high. I thought an original estimates was more like $19M??

He also said that without the KC trip season tickets would have been $430 and $140 min Paks just to get the same dollars. He is happy with attendance but donations must be way down.

$430 (or even $350 for 6 games) for a season ticket is an embarrassment. With a football team that has won a total of 8 games in the past 3 years, we have one of...if not THE...most expensive tickets in the Big 12.

I believe Iowa's season tickets were $340(?) which included 7 games.

And since the "reseating", we are no longer at the bottom of the donor requirements either.

My buddy from Mizzou was absolutely floored when I told him that the ISU/Iowa game at JTS is $90 per ticket. He gets season tickets for Mizzou, and their most expensive ticket is $75, and that is for Nebraska. Of course, all of our other games are cheaper on average than Mizzou, but that wasn't the point of our discussion.

I simply don't believe him - there is no way he would have had the nerve to charge $430 for seven games.
My theory is he's trying to make the Arrowhead series to seem like a slam-dunk decision. I imagine he told the Chiefs that ISU fans would buy more tix than we ultimately did...

He wasn't playing a word game. It's not like he said 'we sold 11,000 season tickets for 2009'....he said we sold 11,000 tickets at the full $350.00...

For some reason i was in my truck listening. 11,000 was the number of season tickets at $350. Which is the highest number of season ticket levels sold.

Also worth noting.... Pollard needs a 20 million dollar donation. We need the football team to win to create more DEMAND. And season tickets and donation levels need to increase. Sounds like a few years off at the moment. But he seemed positive about it.

Sounds like new track and softball field will get done first and located in a non FLOOD plain unlike the original plans of having it across from JTS.

Then to top it off.... We had one person who called in loving the 6pm start time and one a few callers later crying about it. Demanding it be changed before sat.

Better then last week though when some idoit called in about our dance squad wearing black and that they should be disallowed to dance because black is not one of our colors. The guy was raising his voice to Jamie about it. Funny as hell.

Anyway sorry if I misspelled something. Trying out the mobile device on phone and no spell check

This...I'm re-thinking my season ticket situation next year if mini-packs are sold. This year we bought our regular season tickets plus a pair of mini's. The mini-pack tickets for each of the games were as good if not better than the ones I paid waaaaay much more for after donations and parking pass.

I think JP has painted himself into a corner with this. If they are not an option next year he better make it be known early and often, because now people are expecting this to be an option and if its not attendence will suffer.

We have a higher average ticket price than Nebraska. I'm paying $54 (which is face value) for the ISU-Neb game in Lincoln in 2 weeks. That ticket will likely be $90 next year. Face value tickets are $60 for the Baylor-ISU game this weekend...

My buddy and I were talking after the KState debacle, that at some point fans aren't going to keep coming back for more...too many kicks to the groin.

Also, check out the Baylor Attendance thread....people are predicting low to mid 40ks for a game that is halfway through the season. I'm not sure why everyone is itching for the AD to bowl in the south endzone when we can't fill out current stadium.

Fans are going to have to step up (which they already have IMO) or the football team is going to have to win some games to make it happen.

I think this is a common thought amongst many fans.

I don't know if they necessarily need to eliminate the mini-packs all together, but they MUST figure out a way to reward the full season ticket holders in excess of the mini-packs. As you pointed out, and so many others have said as well, you can get much, much better seats in mini-packs with an 1/nth of the cost.

Iowa s season tickets might be less then ours, but the donation levels are a few hundred dollars higher. Pick you poison. Plus you cant get any seats without a donation i believe or a seat fee
