Please, not #9!

I think we can take Cincy at their house. Our guys have a different attitude this year. It's a good tune up for battles at Houston and the Little Apple.

Man, I want to take down the Purple Kitties there. Not sure we can get Houston, they are the #1 DEFENSE IN AMERICA! (credit every sports network for that one).

I kind of like our defense, but I'm biased.

Cincy looks tough, especially at home. It will be a physical game and we will have to bring it. This team has given me no reason to believe they won’t.

Saturday was really encouraging how sharp they were. I was expecting a slog.

Definitely. Houston-like, with a great home court atmosphere. Have to bring our defense and be really strong on the boards. That Jizzle James dude is for real. Really, really quick. If we can keep them out of the paint and off the boards, they're not a great three point shooting team and should struggle. This one has 60-58 written all over it. A win would be great, however it happens.

I think people saying it's one time have a short memory. Frosted tips game was the worst... but there's been at least 4 times we've lost at #9.

I think we lose at Cinnci too... but not due to our ranking. Just kind of a crazy coincidence.

And that team was also not Top Ten material.

I think 'curse' is being confused with 'not that good'.

This is pretty much it. A lot of times in the past when we have gotten up to number 9, it's because maybe we combined one attention getter win along with beating a bunch of "should win" games. Combined with poll inertia that's a recipe for rising into the low end of the top 10, but not much higher because as you get higher than that you have teams that have proven their resumes and also have their own poll inertia (and, often, have the right names that give them a bit of a bonus). And we tend to have "bad luck" at #9 because that's when reality hits in.

A big difference here would be that it's now February. A #9 in February is a lot different than a #9 in December or early January as we built that ranking on the meat of the big 12 schedule and not upon the scrubs we play in December.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. I know we are just fans and this board is for dumb discussions sometimes, but holy hell some of you are just weird. Give me any damn ranking, let along a top ten ranking, all day every day!

Yeah we'll see what the next month brings.

ISU was #11 a year ago.

I don't think it has anything to do with rankings, moreso that it's a conference road game, against an athletic team, in a tough environment. Not surprising if we win and certainly not surprising if we lose.
