Playstation 3 or XBox 360?

well.. firstly, its not usually that much. i can grab a 12 month card for on amazon for 45 right now, ive seen it as low as 30.

secondly, gold includes other things that playstation charges for as well in their playstation plus memberships, that are similarly priced.

So its better because the basic membership for 360 cost as much as the premium membership for PS3?:spinny:

People always counter PS3 having free online gaming by saying its worth it to pay for XBox live because its so much better. Can someone please explain this? What is so different about the online play and why is it worth $50-$60 dollars a year?

I don't get this either. I think it may have been a bigger deal a long time ago, but not so much anymore.

PS3 also has a built in internet browser. Still uses older version of windows but it's more than my brothers 360 has. Always thought it was kinda funny that a machine built by microsoft can't surf the net for free.

yeah no kidding... every time i turn my xbox on i think 'damn, i wish i could surf the internet on this thing... that would be so useful on a gaming device'

that would be a valid argument except that there is only 1 membership for xbox. if you buy the gold membership you get everything. the only other option is silver which is free which lets you do everything but play games on line pretty much. so actually the silver membership is the basic one since its free

PS3.. I hear so many stories about 360's crapping out. Red ring, etc...

My PS3 is the first generation. 4 years later, no problems.

I've had my 360 for 5 years no problems. A buddy is on his 4th...yea 4th PS3. I think both had big issues with this but since the 360 came out a year before the problems were given more pub. I refused to buy another playstation after I went through 3 PS2's.

Xbox 360+Kinect = Innovative technology, and you get the additional benefit of an awesome online experience for gaming as well as music, movies, tv, etc.

PS3+Move = Yesterday's technology that is overpriced, and you get a dvd format (blu ray) that nobody really cares about since you can download and stream in 1080p these days.

does that make your choice easier? it should.

I should add though, that even with all the problems he still loves the PS3 and won't switch to a 360. So I guess that says a lot.

Granted, some of the earlier (2005, 2006) vintage 360's had RROD problems, but there are literally no reports of the new versions (slim) having ANY issues whatsoever. And since the OP is looking to buy a new system, I think he can feel very confident in not getting an RROD.

That argument is so old and outdated.

XBox Live Gold Membership is required for Netflix, ESPN3 (if your ISP has an agreement to carry ESPN3), Facebook, Twitter and the ability to play games online.

PS3 - no service fees for Netflix and online gaming. Twitter and Facebook (as well as an internet browser) are available for free as well - it just takes patience to navigate using the controller.

this. and i have one of the older version of xbox (mine is 3 years old). i bought an intercooler for the back of my xbox for 20 bucks after my first one overheated. havent had any issues with it since. the new xboxs have 2 giants fans on the sides (if standing up) that takes the heat away better than style of xbox that i have. microsoft fixedd the major issues with the older xboxs when they released this version. i personally want my old xbox to die so i can get a new one but im not having luck yet

Personally, for me, I got a PS3 since I was looking for a blu-ray player & I remember reading that the best blu-ray player Sony makes is the PS3. The PS3 also streams Netflix & Hulu Plus so if you're looking for streaming capabilities, there's something to keep in mind.

I feel the exclusives are more important to look @. Games decide how much your going to play it anyways.

If your a halo junkie get the 360
If your a GT junkie get the PS3
Etc.

I've went through 3 Xbox 360's. (Red Ring of Death)
I still have my original PS3.
