Player development under CFH

I've been impressed with the progression of high-level recruits. I think people forget, but Niang didn't start until the conference season. By the NCAA tournament, he was playing at an all-conference level.

This year, we're only beginning to see the progression of Morris and Thomas. By the end of the season, I expect we'll be even more excited for the future of Cyclone basketball (hard to believe - I know).

Gibson never regressed. We just recruited over him. He is the same player he always was.

Other than Gibson, it has been great.

Naz has improved his shot, but he would have looked a lot better last year if had gotten this many minutes at the 2 or 3 spots. Imo, he can be even better. He has the athleticism, shooting, and handle to be a hell of an off-guard. I really want to see him expand his all-around game as the season goes on.

Really hoping Dorsey-Walker makes that jump like Naz did. The potential is there. IMO he just needs minutes. I think he could be scoring about the same as Naz if he played the same amount of minutes.

Hope you're right but they're both in their 2nd year here and Naz is well ahead of SDW imo and shows more potential. He's just a much stronger and better all around player imo.

Not exactly sure why but I find myself really pulling for SDW when he gets in the game... I really like the way he plays, if gets a little stronger and more consistent he's gonna be stellar....

Didn't SDW redshirt? Game time is huge when you get to this level. That's what Naz had coming into the year that SDW didn't. I also think that SDW isn't that far behind the others he just isn't the type that we need. He seems more of an all around where Naz is a 3pt specialist.

In the articles about Johnny Orr, a lot of former players talked about how he was always very supportive of his players, never calling them out for questionable shots or slip ups, but rather building confidence in them. That sounded REALLY familiar to one of the best coaches in college basketball today.

True, SDW did redshirt, but then Naz played very few minutes and had BuBu not missed the first half of the year, Naz probably could have been red shirted too as he played so little. I just think if we get Vaughn, SDW will be competing against Vaughn, Thomas and Naz for minutes and I just don't see him taking them away from those guys. I don't see SDW having that kind of ability, but I may turn out to be dead wrong.

Percy is better this year. Take a closer look. He passes more. He has some rebounds.

Geez, just realized SDW hasn't made a fieldgoal since Auburn. Over a month. Only 0-8 but still, that's a long drought for a guy.

No wonder he looks like he could use a hug.

I still feel bad we have two wasted schollies in Bubu and KJ.

I agree, but not playing with us is one player's choice, and the other was with the team then taken off, then with the team, then taken off again not by his choice. At least with BuBu's scholarship he gave us a lot of good bench contribution in last year's great last half run.
