Play calling and personnel problems

Jay Jordan prediction:

He points out holes in the defense that ISU didn't exploit, and parts where handing the ball off in the RPO would have been better than keeping it for Purdy.

Also contain issues and pursuit angles on critical downs.

There WAS improvement on 3rd down conversion given up for ISU....just not late.

I love that Campbell's system has us in every game, but it is frustrating when a staff that constantly talks about doing the little things it takes to win fails to do it in critical moments of games.

Still think this team has a high ceiling, just wondering when we are going to see it.

Question here. If Soehner is supposed to be that HB/FB position, why don’t they give it to him in short yardage situations? 3&1, 4&1, surely better chance than Croney hitting a brick wall for no gain?

I've thought the same...and also maybe an under center formation for short yardage.

If we lose all games this year by 1-2 pts, lots of hair will be pulled out over here, lol.

Just about the only positive I can come up with so far is that we’ve s**t the bed to some degree in every game so far and our losses are by a combined 3 points.

We’re losing the turnover game this season 3-7.

They really need to quit screwing around with the garbage play calling. Out kicker and special teams simply aren’t good and they appear to be a lost cause for this season. Our corners got abused today.

We need to stop turning it over.

We need to score points and control the clock on offense. we keep abandoning the run or calling runs or pass plays that don’t make any sense at the time.

We really need to get turnovers under control.

We need to pressure the opposing QB with some rush on 3rd and long. Stanley beat us last week on a couple scrambles when we brought some pressure and I’m fine with that because it takes (I hate to admit it) a baller to make those plays.

We also need to stop turning over the f****** football!!!

And what was up with Purdy today? He was way off target until the 4th. Maybe the heat was getting to him? The sun did get low enough in the 4th that the ISU sideline finally had some shade. Again, something that could be lessened in impact by better establishment of the run game.

Oh, and can we please stop turning it over?

People bitched about CMC calling the plays last year but I like him calling the game for Purdy more than I like Manning calling for Purdy.

I know everyone thinks using TEs all of the time is the key to becoming the Gods of cfb but if we’re not going to even threaten to run the ball it’s just an extra slow guy (or two a lot of times) making Purdy wait behind a mediocre o-line for people to come open and get through the progressions.

The second half was better Purdy started realizing he has to throw to everyone and then the TEs reaped the benefits once that started happening. Just frustrating it takes a 2 1/2 quarters for the coaches to figure anything out.

This is similar to listening to the White Sox say they are really close to being in the World Series.

Hoping someone can remember so I don’t have to go back and research...

We’re we running designed QB draw for Purdy last year?

If i see another Purdy zone read keeper..... Ughh he is not Michael Vick. He should never run the ball unless he is scrambling.

Play calling isn't easy but it was for the most part bad today
