PJ Fleck legit?

How many conference games do you think MN played?

iSU has wins over:

UNI-9-4 (FCS school)
ULM-5-7
TCU-5-7
WVA-5-7
TTech-4-8
Texas-7-5
Kansas-3-9

The teams ISU beat in 2019 averaged 5 wins, including UNI (FCS)

Imagine a moron hawk fan trying to brag about strength of schedules when they’ve played so many **** schedules, and beat nobody, all these years.

That's the strategy here...make your ****** schedule seem more appealing by pumping up your fellow conference member. Iowa, Minnesota, and all BIG teams play an unbalanced schedule that gets more teams in bowl games and makes more money for the conference. But it makes for a ****** home schedule. Yay, I get to pay $90 a game to watch Illinois, Northwestern, Rutgers, and Purdue...oh, and throw in a non-con schedule that includes 3 cupcakes when you aren't playing ISU...that's $630 + your seat donation well spent...good job.

The SEC certainly embraces this...and inserts a ****** FCS team in the middle to give each team an additional bye week.

Well, they do keep beating us and I don't like to think we are nobodies. :(

I think Iowa, ISU and MN had the same number of wins each over ranked teams, one. W/L records aside, the ESPN power ranking have us all in relative proximity to one another.

We have the most "good" losses, although this ain't March Madness seeding stuff. ;)

I spent Thanksgiving and last weekend up in Minny and saw quite a bit of Fleck with Game Day and the local coverage. I think the Gophers needed a coach that was going to demand attention to reinvigorate the fan base. I don't know whether or not he's going to sustain the success, but every Gopher fans would take the year they had if you asked them that at the beginning of the year.

He made a good statement after the game that he wasn't satisfied with the game and he didn't want people to be content with falling back into the mindset that they couldn't compete with the big dogs. I can appreciate the effort to try to change the culture.

I personally think his schtick is very self-serving and will get ridiculed harshly once the wins stop coming. He is like a high-pressure salesman that either hits it big or busts and annoys the customer. But as long as it works and the players and fans are ok with it, then go for it. It just feels like the tables will turn on him quicker than coaches with a more conventional approach.

Ummm they just got boat raced by Bucky in their own house... If Iowa's offense wasn't terrible, they would have done the same thing to them.

I'm not saying they are ready for the NCG, but they are pretty darn good, from being not very good in a short period of time. Where they ton 10? Of course not. They had a pretty easy schedule and took advantage of it. Still to win 10 games, teams have to have some talent and some level of focus. Still think he is a pretty good coach and motivator.

Historically, we are. I get we’ve had an historical stretch of football with this staff, and all the “fans” on here are trying to pretend we’ve turned some monumental corner in just 3 years.

but youre defending a guy that like all the other dumb asses in their fanbase thought beating Indiana and Purdue and Illinois was the same as beating Oklahoma, and proof of how much they improved during the course season

You sound like one of those angry GDI’s that roamed the halls of Helser dateless in ‘92

Reading comprehension not a strong suit of yours?

Finally got around to reading the paper today and see that Fleck was voted by the coaches as Big 10 Coach of the Year. The media, of course, sucked up to the tOSU as they are wont to do and voted theirs to Ryan Day.

I agree with this part wholeheartedly. Even in winning I have heard a lot of Gopher fans (yes, they actually exist!) who admittedly grudgingly tolerate his schtick while he is winning. When the winning is gone - or even on hiatus - I think that tolerating will quickly evaporate.

From what I gather, kids gravitate towards and like playing for Fleck despite what we adults may think of his antics.

I heard it somewhere described as "paying the a**hole tax" when Pelini was at Nebraska

I can guarantee there are several hawk fans out there labeling the win over Nebraska as ranked since they were to start the season.

They could claim us to because we were ranked up till week #2 but couldn't beat that bye week and weren't ranked by the Iowa game.
