Pick up basketball Assualt

there are some instances that really should be reported, cant believe how many people try to get a way with mugging people on the court. Im sure most of us that have played pick up have played against someone that has tried to knock someone out with no basketball intentions.
I have played a lot of pickup ball and have never once thought I needed to report anything. And no I'm not a big wanna be tough guy but you might be playing basketball with the wrong people

I've played once when a fight happened (punches, etc.). I don't believe it's an issue that needs to go to the police for even in extreme cases.

You can make an argument about when somebody gets hurt in a fight but it usually cools off after 30 seconds - 1 minute. It's usually between 2 people and the rest split them up.

I’ve never seen anything worth calling the cops about.

The worst I’ve gotten into was when I was in HS. Some 30 something at the Y got a running start and rammed the top of his head into my chest because he got pissed at me. You can’t really do anything but laugh at that one.

When I was in the Marines. There were some vicious pickup games. Most of the guys basically sucked so they played like thugs. There were quite a few fights. Then they would start playing again after the fight. It's even funnier when all the players are wearing Cammies with boots.

I was a part of a rather chippy rec league game one time where a late-game intentional foul took the form of a guy punching a guy on our team in the jaw. That was the only time I can think of where it came close to crossing the line. The guy swore up and down he didn't mean to do it, but considering the guy had been a tool the whole game he didn't have a ton of credibility.

I've never had anything near a fight happen while playing pickup ball. I did see a lot of people rage quit when they weren't doing good at State Gym. One guy got owned in the lane, grabbed the ball once it dropped through the net, punted it across State Gym, said **** this ****! and left.

I play in a pick up game at a church school gym so the group is self policing. It also helped when we had a young priest who used to come and play from time to time. He had a great looking 3 point shot, too.

the comment at the bottom was good. "The cop told his partner after getting back in the car, It was just a hard pick, let's roll"

As long as the guy setting the pick doesn't reach down and steal your phone from you while your stunned it's all good.

a couple things
1) Calling a foul in a pick up basketball game, at any time, on anyone other than yourself is wrong. You aren't playing proper pick up basketball, if you call a foul that was committed on you.

2) idk who called the cops, but I would've called the cops on that kid just for wearing a camo shooters sleeve, and matching outfit, to a ******* rec gym.
