Pick two to defend you, the rest attack

I think I'm going with gorillas and bears, and sending the gorillas after the hunter on the word go

I'd pick the hunter and rats. I don't see any way the rest of those animals, if I chose them, would get rid of the rats, especially 10,000 of them. Maybe they'd get a few, but not all of them. I don't expect them to be particularly helpful but at least they wouldn't be attacking me and they could swarm the other animals and keep them busy and distracted while the hunter picks them off.

Agree with others that although he is lame, you have to take the hunter or he will just stand 25 yards away and take your head off.

If we assume all the animals are pumped up and hungry to hunt, this is a moot exercise and you don't stand a chance. If we assume they are "normal" animals, I would think lining up 5 gorillas around you could be pretty effective in stomping any rats that came by while your hunter takes out the big game.

If I had the choice, I would would take all the hok trolls on CF. They seem to multiply without limit. Even when they are eliminated, they seem to always return. No way anything else on the list has a chance.

Wolves are the most successful kill per hunt predatory megafauna in the wild, so them over lions and bears.

Assuming these are saltwater crocodiles (not those weak-kneed American crocodiles, or heaven forbid Nile crocs) and there's water I can make my way to, I'll take them. Send the wolves after the hunter with the rifle, relax and do a back float for an hour.

I'll take the hawks and rats. Hawks to dive bomb the hunter. He won't have a chance to line up a shot. After they scratch and peck his eyes out, he's useless. Then they can move on to the other animals that the rats have been distracting, swarming, biting, slicing. Victory by thousands of tiny cuts.

It's going to take a high powered rifle to take down a brown bear, buffalo, lion or gorilla. And in the chaos he's not going to have a chance to set up for a high quality shot. You can keep all of them between the both of you. The rifle will also be totally ineffective vs the rats and the hawks because the are small, fast and numerous. A shotgun with bird shot would be better for them but even less effective against everything else including you.

I feel like the buffalo and gorillas give you the best chances. Buffalo are super durable, and they naturally circle around their young in defense. A coordinated stampede would take out a lot of the other animals. Lions don't mess with Cape Buffalo often because they know how dangerous they can be. Gorillas are also durable, immensely strong, and can be vicious. Plus they are the smartest of the bunch. With them on your side I feel like you can survive against the divided attacks of the rats. You'll be exhausted and bloody and chewed to hell, but alive.

After a discussion that started with wanting to create a hunting show where a man has to hunt deer using only his bare hands, I decided to rehash this thought experiment last night with our friends.

This scenario depends on the starting position of your team versus everyone else. If you're in the middle of an arena surrounded by everyone else, you're just hosed. If every team starts one the edge with their backs against a wall, you at least have a chance.

Also, the distance and sight lines between you and the hunter are pretty important. Too far away and the hunter will pick you off within seconds. If they are closer, you might be able to hide behind buffalo or gorillas long enough to eliminate the hunter.

I was on team rats/hunter for a long time but I've come around to either buffalo/gorillas or hunter/buffalo.

Buffalo/gorilla: The first order of business would be to stampede charge the hunter and take him/her out. You'd have to sprint behind an aggressive buffalo charge winged by gorillas. You'd likely lose a few of your team, but you must remove the long range threat. For this strategy to ultimately work, you'd have to keep attacking to avoid getting surrounded, but the gorillas could help hold off enemies while the buffalo rested for another charge.

Or...

Buffalo/hunter: similar to the above example, you aggressively charge and trample other animals while running behind or possibly riding the buffalo. The hunter would play the same role as the gorillas did.

So the animals don’t attack the hunter?

In a free for all situation the bears and wolves.

If the Hunter gets to just stand there under no threat I have to chose the Hunter and wolves.

Wolves are bigger than people realize, I think it’s because everybody sees huskies and coyotes in real life but not wolves.

Gorillas are overrated. They get hunted and killed by jaguars. Depending on the size of the arena, give me the brown bears and the lions. I think we'd still lose though.

I take 10000 rats and have 1000 attack the hunter right off. No way can he shoot 1000 rats.

I would also take the biggest, strongest animal with #'s to provide shield against hunter and protection from other large animals- the 7 buffalo sound good.

Counting on the 9000 other swarming rats to keep big predictors at bay.

After the rats attack hunter and subdue. My buffalo buddies will be my o-line getting me to the dead hunter's gun.

I can then use gun to kill other predators. The hawks might be a problem, since they own the sky. But I am counting on size/height of buffalo to keep them from directly hitting me.

At least yours happened in the off-season!
