Phrases that Annoy You

"can't see the forest for the trees"

WTF does this even mean?! Even if it does have actuall meaning, it's so stupid you should just find another way to say what you are trying to say.

It means you can't see the big picture (the forest) due to being so focused on the small details (the trees).

"No, I don't think there is any way to do that." when you know there is. I just was told that here at work. Or, "No, we don't carry three-way light switches at Menards." Lazy people.

This is a nice, albeit passive way of saying "You know how to do that. Do it yourself."

"Hotter than a ***** in church." Does this mean the air conditioning is broken? Maybe the church doesn't have air conditioning? Does the ***** have a fever? Did she get the HIV? Aaaaagghhhhh

It has been mentioned, but the overuse of literally annoys me. And usually it is used to mean something contrary its standard definition. It is so bad that google has second definition for literally: "Used for emphasis or to express strong feeling while not being literally true"

define: literally - Google Search

Butchered cliche. It is actually "sweating like a ***** in church" meaning she's nervous; not hot.

"What an excitable player."

"What an excitable play."

I just thought of another one: when people say "it's _______ with a capital __". Like, "it's treason with a capital T".

I hate pretty much everything project managers say.
Absolutely. It's as if they have a secret book of stupid phrases and acronyms.

I work with one that is so in love with his stupid phrases that it just make you cringe. One time he actually said "C'mon guys, I need some more bullets for my gun" WTF what that supposed to mean ?

It means that you people aren't doing your jobs and you need to give the project manager reasons to give to management in the next project review on why you should stay employed.
