Man, Fran sure does have that Iowa pipeline locked down.
Hope this a joke. The only reason Fran gets the Iowa kids is because Freddy is out getting better players from different states. Iowa isn't really a big basketball state. Only a few great players come around Iowa every 10 years.
This couldn't be more wrong. Fred was recruiting Woodbury until he realized he had no chance with him. In the past couple years, Iowa has had Barnes, Paige, Woodbury, and Gessel (technically Nebraska, but plays AAU in Iowa) as 4* or 5* players. A team with those four guys (plus McDermott, Oglesby, and others I'm forgetting) would compete in any conference in the country and likely be a top 4-5 seed.

Woodbury is overrated and looked like garbage in the state title game. Got pushed around like a rag doll. Also Oglesby, Paige and Gessel have not proven themselves yet. So I don't consider them great "college" players yet.
I like that we decided who is overrated before they even play a single college game.

Any team, that is, except the halks!

If he makes it to Iowa, I say congratulations to Jok. Fred did not want him anyway, and with the injuries he has overcome can't we all be happy for an Iowa kid to make it to a D1 program. I have seen him play in the gym(here in ames, using our facilities) and he is silky smooth. If he stays healthy and gains 25 pounds of muscle, he has some real potential. I hope he has success and has a great career, just not against ISU.
Now, I just can't let this one go. Isn't this the exact line that ISU fans get Iowa fans so much grief over? If Jok turns out to be the player he had the potential of being pre-injury, I can guarantee you that Fred would have wanted him. Fred just apparently didn't see the need to take the risk, while Fran only had one scholly, so if he's a bust it wouldn't have made much of a difference anyways.[/QUOTE]
I've read this on HN. I'm not sure how a bust with only 1 scholarship is better than a bust with 5-6. In fact, I think it's the opposite.
Anyway, I agree that Fran saw the risk as worth taking, and Fred didn't. Only time will tell which strategy was right.
I happen to think you could have done a lot worse. IMO, worst case scenario, Jok ends up being a sort of 1-dimensional player who can shoot lights out. If his knee recovers fully and stays healthy, he could end up being a big time player.
I can't tell if you don't know how to spell or if that is supposed to be an insult.
