Peter Jok Suspended Indefinitely

Basically the whole football team and basketball team ride mopeds. I've always wondered if that is some sort of perk. At least our team players come rolling in with four wheels, pick up trucks, and booming systems!
They aren't paying for school, so they've got a little extra money to pay for better transportation than a bicycle. They're also very convenient, especially in Iowa City, because they're much easier to park than cars. And, as an added bonus, you're very unlikely to kill anyone but yourself by driving one drunk (which, considering both the issue at hand and the school's reputation these days, is a very real benefit).
OK, I don't follow Iowa that closely, but 'suspended' is a smushy term there, and it is with ISU as well. I believe Matt T. is currently 'suspended indefinitely' as well...it's essentially the equivalent of saying 'he's in trouble, but we're not announcing his punishment yet'. So he might well have been suspended indefinitely from the first one...again, maybe you know differently, I don't....anyway, the thing is...'suspended indefinitely' really doesn't mean much, and it definitely isn't as harsh as it might sound.
To be fair, it's not that they consider this to be a more serious crime. But the timeline and general pattern make this a much bigger deal than if it had happened in a vacuum.
Regardless, in the docthermann (sp?) article it states that Fran had no intention of suspending jok from his owi and that is just embarrassing.
I don't even think a moped would run in a vacuum due to the lack of combustible oxygen.
I thought that said owl at first and I was really interested in what he did with an owl that would warrant a suspension.
So is basketball 'trouble with the law' now a draw as far as smack talk goes? Just neither side bring it up for now?
Or is Iowa's a bigger deal because it happened to the player most Iowa fans predict to lead the team in scoring? (not sure why but it seems to be the case)

The indefinite suspension didn't happen until today, which would lead one to believe that if something didn't happen yesterday, his incident in April would have gone unpunished. Generally you won't wait months before suspending someone for an incident.
So isn't this on Fran for giving him a moped with a broken taillight and no flag? I would have thought that their athletic department would at least perform basic maintenance on their equipment. This is endangering the lives of these kids.
No, he wouldn't have faced punishment beyond what the university code of conduct dictates. There's a difference, although I would have suspended him for at least a couple games in April.
