You obviously do not converse with Duke, Kentucky, UConn, Carolina, Michigan State, Indiana, etc.... fans on other message boards.

You are correct I don't, but it's also obvious to me that of those, at the very least, Duke, Kentucky, Carolina, and more recently Uconn are better programs than KU. Why? Because of their tournament success, not because they have a long conference streak. You are probably right, the other Big 12 schools may be effecting ku's reputation, but it wouldn't be an issue if they performed better in the tournament.

This is completely off topic, but I've long thought it. Ku gets much of its mystique from their first coach, who invented basketball. This makes Lawrence sort of the mecca of college basketball. I respect that, and even enjoy reading about the history, and would some day like to visit because of this. However, it doesn't change the numbers, and those show that ku is on more of a Villanova or Louisville level, not UCLA/Kentucky level.

Shouldn't you be looking to Springfield, Massachusetts, rather than Lawrence, for that?
