Percy/Sherron

Neither Ejim or Niang were/are traditional post/interior players, while Gibson is more a traditional post. I agree he didn't fit with Hoiberg's style, but Hoiberg also didn't have anybody on staff who could coach up that type of player, so IMO he doesn't deserve the grief he gets on here.
Doc Sadler tried and tried, but Percy gave no effort to get better.

eh, they had their opportunities.

That is basically what was said by cyclones. They couldn't get playing time with the opportunities they were given. So that means they weren't up to par with the players we already had ahead of them.

I'm glad to see they are both doing well.......hope it continues for them. Might have to try and catch one or two of their games on tv if they get on. Interestingly, their next game is against LE and Colorado State.

SDW played 32 minutes in 2 games and only had 4 points... Opportunities were there.

A little off topic here, but Jeff Grayer's son Jaire, who is a freshman at George Mason just had 15 points and 6 boards in a win over Ole Miss in the Charleston Classic.

You responded initially as if you were rebutting his point.

A RS year would have made Percy a big 12 caliber player. He has soft hands and good footwork, he even played well defensively early at ISU. The last year or so here, it seemed like he was trying way too hard to make an impact. His shot selection was atrocious, he forced everything. Had he gone to Dayton (I think that's where he was headed...) he would have redshirted and probably been a solid A-10 player. W/O a RS year at ISU, he was a 1yr contributor at best.

Percy was a solid contributor, and it's too bad people only remember him for his left hand dominance. He wasn't great, but he was a rotation guy on a good team in 2012-13.

Exactly. I get a chuckle out these "it's easy to stop Percy" posts. Yeah, it may have been easy to stop him when he was at ISU, but that's because the ISU coaching staff had nobody who could coach up the post/interior players (on both on offense and defense).

Seems like the kid has talent, and he found a coach who could help him utilize it. Good for him.

You're getting carried away, Tex.

They're beating Washington handily right now. Washington was one of the last teams in in Palm's bracketology. Sherron and Percy aren't having great games, but this looks like a pretty good Oakland team.
