Percy "Motown" Gibson

Percy will only continue to get better. It's encouraging to see a big man as smooth as he is as a FR. He could easily become a 16 ppg type player for us in another year or two.

Defensively I can only imagine he'll take some big steps forward as most young posts struggle a bit their first year.

This. If Niang is as good as everyone thinks, i see him and Gibson both averaging over 13 ppg in 2013. Im loving right now but im even more excited for the future of cyclone basketball.

Gibson has looked great as a freshman. He's a year ahead of most bigs. Still needs to work on moving his feet and playing solid defense, but the kid has great potential. Just a tremendous athlete - I can't wait to see what the future brings for him in a Cyclone uniform.

Barring any surprise transfer outs this team next season could be really good. A good off-season for both Royce and Gibson could go a long ways to making us a very tough team to defend with our sharp shooting perimeter players and a better inside game. Gibson has a very good frame and athleticism to be a pretty nice player down the road and if Royce and Percy add some go-to post moves its going to make things really fun next season. We lose Scotty and Allen but I think Lucious and Clyburn easily top their production then you add Niang, Dorsey-Walker, and Naz Long to the mix (guessing Okoro is a prime candidate to redshirt) and that is a lot of depth to add to an already productive bench of McGee, Gibson, Palo, and Booker.

His mom called the coaches to find out what Percy needed to work on to play more. She was told defense. He has been working hard to do what the coaches told momma and it paid off today.

Freshman are usually behind the curve one defense in the Big 12. I think Percy has the work ethic to improve there and we are going to see better things from him the more experience he gets. Just look at Ejim, he has come a long ways since he was a freshman and he was forced into more minutes than Gibson out of necessity because we had no depth on the team in Melvin's freshman year.

His hands and the way he moves around the hoop remind me of Big Victor Alexander. Just very smooth, crafty. Makes things look very easy.

Has a chance to be a really good one here.

The good thing is if our next freshman class are just as good then this staff is showing it can identify good talent. I hope the transfers are paving the way to landing some good HS talent. Step 1 is getting back into the Big Dance and the exposure this program needs on a national level then step 2 is getting those top 100 caliber type recruits to see ISU as a desirable place to play.

I think he kind of reminds me of Sammy Hill.

I'm really happy he's here because he's really the only guy who gets post position and tries to score with his back to the basket. I could not be more excited about the kid. Great size and ability. I am excited to see him next year with a year in the weight room and some more time with the coaches.

Will easily continue to grow on the Cyclone fan favorite list if he keeps it up. IMO, he always makes the most of his minutes. We have a lot of guys stepping up and playing their best ball at the perfect time.

We should have five post players who are capable next year in White, Ejim, Gibson, Booker, and Niang. Who's the odd man out of that group.

I loved Godfrey's mentality when he played here but I'm really excited to watch Percy develop here. This year, I think he's a really good 15 minutes/game guy. I can't wait to see him get into the mix even more next year.
It's a nice feeling to know that when Fred puts in a Freshman, it's not a "oh crap" feeling from the crowd, it's a "Percy, hell yeah" felling.

it would be interesting to have them all on the floor at the same time

1. White
2. Ejim
3. Niang
4. Booker
5. Gibson

just a thought to create mismatches for a few possessions in a game next season
