I got some quotes on switching home and auto policies about 6 months ago just to make sure I wasn't getting screwed and mine with State Farm is in line enough I didn't want to mess with the hassle of switching for. Now I definitely won't be switching. Now is not the time to move unless you positively can not afford the premium.
I'm not a West Bend agent but all my interactions with them have been positive sans one that was in, no way, their fault.
Agree, West Bend has been great on serivce. We have done alot of premium relief on deductible raises, which has helped a bit. Seems like the old $1000 deductible is todays $2500, in terms on the inflation of the Dollar...Im worried about the next generations ability to afford a home AND insurance....yikesWest Bend is, in my opinion, the best in the business when it comes to coverage and claims service. They have done what they've had to do as a last resort. People think insurance companies love raising rates. Trust me, they hate it. And, if you don't know or don't like your agent, you can move your policies to me! Just sayin'!
Not to mention what they are paying Cate Clark for her NIL gig.$2Billion... let's say 500,000 crashes at $4k each... that's $2B.
google says 6 million car crashes annually in the USA.
Nationwide is dumping business by raising premiums extremely high. Many will move those who don't pay way to high rates.Progressive for Auto and Nationwide for home.
its bundled through Progressive, but they just hand off the homeowners to nationwide.
We moved from Nationwide in 2022 after about 10 years when they jumped almost 20%. We got a good rate for everything switching only to end up close to where we were last summer this summer.Nationwide is dumping business by raising premiums extremely high. Many will move those who don't pay way to high rates.
As long as the event that caused the damage was at a time your policy was in force with Company A, then Company A covers the claim. Here's a pickle of a situation I am in...
Bought my house in 2017. Roof had new shingles in 2013. We had some bad windstorms this summer, but I didn't see any shingles missing on my roof or anything like that. I did notice several new roofs going on houses on my street over the last few months.
My policy with Company A was up for renewal on August 18th. Like many others, my rates were skyrocketing so I decided to shop for new coverage. Company B offered the same coverage that Company A had for about the same price before the increase at renewal. So I switched.
Company B had me do a virtual home inspection, which I submitted on 9/1/23. I had to take a bunch of pictures and videos around the house and submit them. Last week (10/10/23) I received a cancellation notice from Company B for "unacceptable roof condition". I reached out to them to get more specifics and they said that I had excessive cupping and granular loss on my shingles.
I read up on my Company A policy and it said that I have a year to report losses and file a claim. But since I switched to Company B on 8/18/23, am I still able to file a claim with them even though I don't hold an active policy with them?
West Bend is a great company but 50% rate increases are pretty wrong. Ask your agent, there are other great companies out there with better rates. We are moving many West Bend customers right now.For those insurance agents out there, I'm currently with West Bend on a home/auto bundle and was frustrated with my increase, but now think it's best to stay with them. Any thoughts on West Bend?
Everyone is taking rate after large losses.Nationwide is dumping business by raising premiums extremely high. Many will move those who don't pay way to high rates.
We are with State Farm, but would like to move after how terrible they have been to deal with on the hail storm in March. Asked our contractor who was the best to work with from his perspective and he had great things to say about Cincinnati. I had never previously heard of them.A lot of West Bend customers are very loyal and will do whatever is necessary to stay with them, meaning higher deductibles. We were fortunate to add Cincinnati Insurance and Acuity Insurance to replace Nationwide and IMT in our lineup. They didn't have a ton of exposure to Iowa in 2020 so their rates have seemed pretty competitive so far.
Give me a call!We are with State Farm, but would like to move after how terrible they have been to deal with on the hail storm in March. Asked our contractor who was the best to work with from his perspective and he had great things to say about Cincinnati. I had never previously heard of them.

Ok, let's make this shameless. Mention CycloneFanatic and $10 to We Will for every new client!
You can still file a claim. Here's a pickle of a situation I am in...
