Pekin Insurance

IMT was never our first choice, but they were a valued partner when we needed them. With our new company additions it is not a huge loss, but we liked having an Iowa-based company in our arsenal.
We had a specific zip code that they were just absolutely fantastic in, almost hard to believe but, otherwise, you're right. They were there, got a look but we didn't place much there.

Up here in Minnesota, the average home premium is $3000.... and not slowing down. When I mean average... I mean 350k house with a 1500 deductible.

I'm in my 32nd year in the biz and never seen anything like this. Those of you living in larger townhome associations are about to get some serious sticker shock in 2024 and beyond.

Celina will be pit of the state all together on 3/31/24.

We only have 2 carriers left that will do a Stand Alone home.

Many carries have gone to age restrictions on roof's, one 5 years or newer a few 10 years and all increasing wind/hail claim deductibles.

This will be a crazy and expensive few years in Iowa for Insurance and premiums.

Last year Nationwide the Insurance Industry lost 15 Billion Dollars.

I live in Colorado but work remotely for Iowa agency. We had to increase deductible to $5000 just to get premium under $3000. We have a HELOC if needed, but it's getting to the point where insurance is for catastrophic losses only.

The first quarter of 2023, State Farm lost 2 BILLION in auto claims alone. This is just plain ugly.

We just got our first official communication from Pekin that they will not renew anyone after 12/1/23.

To piggyback, quick note to those is condo/townhome associations. The time is now to max out your loss assessment coverage. 5-10% deductibles are a real thing for associations and that money has to come from somewhere. That somewhere happens to be you.

Agree with that. Ask your agent for 50,000 loss assessment (or higher). It's low cost, too!

How do the squares line up? Are they the size of like 4 shingles so you can screw them on the bottom sides of the shingles?
If I understand what you're asking, they just put runners horizontally across the shingles, screwed into the rafters thru the existing roof. Then secured the steel panels to the runners. It's literally two roofs.
