I doubt Paul Shirley would have made it into the NBA had it not been for LE's tough style. It was never meant to be fun. I am sure Paul was always welcome to join a pick-up game at the rec if he wanted to have fun. It was LE who made Paul tough enough to become a stellar Big 12 player and get a look at the NBA. And despite his crying and whining, he WAS tough.
Of course, you could argue that it was Paul's hard work that paid off and put him in the NBA. But it was LE who made sure his each and every one of his players was working hard day in and day out.

I thought Mr. Shirley was an educated man? If so why would he use an intangible term like "Fun"? Fun? Happy? What is meant? I believe that those terms are illusions or fanciful states of mind. There are players on that very team that would describe their experience as "fun". However, Paul seems to provide a different opinion, but fails to provide much substance as to what he really means.
Winning is tough and requires a lot of hard. At the time it may not seem "FUN", but can be very rewarding later in life. I am sorry if Paul has any regret for being at ISU. Again it is hard to tell if he enjoyed his time here or not. He is apart of ISU B-ball history whether he likes it or not.
On the flip side. Brackins may have enjoyed his time at ISU, but I am sure he would tell you that his B-Ball career here wasn't "Fun". Again pointing out how useless the term "fun" is.
I just have a problem with someone waiting 10 years to take shots at a former coach and former teammate via Twitter. If you didn't like it, or if they took the fun out of playing basketball for you, quit, or transfer, or mention it sometime within a decade of it actually happening.

When I re watched the elite 8 game a few weeks ago, Paul Shirley is the biggest reason why we lost the game. 3 second call that set up a 3 for MSU, Fizer was shooting a free throw on the next possession and Shirley stumbles for a lane violation, terrible box out where he hit the ball out of bounds, had a bad foul around the time MSU took the lead. Watch it again, Shirley was the curse of that game.

Paul took the time to make his statement public. Why shouldn't I attempt to get something out it?
He (of all people) should understand that what he writes (tweets) will be subject to scrutiny. One because of his quasi-journalistic endeavors and two because he has quasi-celeb status among many/most ISU fans.

I have no issue with Paul's comments. He has made it very clear how things were ran then. He wasn't just at ISU to play basketball like most of the people on his team. He was there to get a great education in a tough major. He worked his butt off after putting in a full day of classes and practice. He didn't get to party it up, drive around in escalades, and mack on bar hoes.

Yeah, I never liked those uni's. I lived with them when the team was awesome, but still hated them. When they returned to sucking in '01-02/02-03, it was easier to hate them again.
I like the current ones.
I liked the Floyd-era yellows, but when I see tape of it, I don't like the typeface at all.
Wayne-era yellow uni's rocked, too. Too bad they lost a lot when they wore them.
I'll side with Paul over the guy whose scandal began our free fall and a guy whose off the court issues have stunted what would've been a really good career(though any of us would take that career in a heartbeat).
