"That invoked a little-known BCS bylaw, rule 10.3.1.14, which reads thusly: Any team that loses to Iowa State is automatically ineligible to win the national title."

Another example of a national guy who just goes off hearsay and overlooks many other factors.

In his defense, I'm guessing a team that's lost to ISU has never one the national title.

He may be right.

My point is that he is overlooking the fact that ISU has been beating ranked teams on a yearly basis anymore. Rhoads has risen the bar up for the program...Okie State was coming off a tough situation with their athletic program. They lost in double OT.

Well, we were 6-6 and finished 8th out of 10 teams in the Big XII. We haven't won more than 7 games in a season in over a decade (and only once in the last 30+ years or so) Not exactly a great loss for oSu.

Was he implying that ISU is not a good football team and that anyone who loses to them is awful as well, or was he implying that Okie State got hosed in the NC game selection?

Pat Forde is a very good and entertaining writer. The point he was making was aimed at OSU...sorry but it is true. They can whine all they want but they do not deserve a shot at the title due to the fact they lost to Iowa State. In fact, LSU should be handed the title right now and the bowl games should be played just to sell commercials.

Just to nit-pick, but his "by-law" is worded incorrectly when it comes to his reasoning for Oklahoma State from being kept out of the BCS title game.

He should have stated: "That invoked a little-known BCS bylaw, rule 10.3.1.14, which reads thusly: Any team that loses to Iowa State is automatically ineligible to play for the national title."

I suppose this by-law was put in to effect during the 2002 season, too. ;)

People need to learn to relax and laugh at yourself every once in a while. The guy was making a joke (and a somewhat funny one imo). If you are an Iowa State fan and not used to being the butt of jokes by now you apparently haven't been around long. I don't think his comment is going to impact recruiting, we'll be ok.

Next year when we are undefeated other than 1 loss to a 6-6 team it will be a bad loss. Get over it.

Oklahoma State with five wins over teams in the BCS Top 25. Alabama has two. But yeah, Bama has a better loss.

If we don't like that kind of press, then we need to win more games so that we aren't a 6-6 team.

I'm watching Mike and Mike, and they just said a team that has played in the national title has never lost to a 6-6 team. The worst team record-wise that a national title participant lost to a was 7-5 team back in 1998.

When was the last time that ISU football was getting so mush press (good or bad) for beating a single team? This team has accomplished something great, and now people are in denial of the fact that we may be improving. That's fine, let them doubt, and in a couple of years when we are consistently a top 25 team, people can say how they believed in us all along.
