OU would roll the hawkeyes

We had to play Iowa, and Iowa had to play us. Hurts them. See how stupid that is? All we had to do was beat them and they wouldn't be undefeated. Same with 11 other schools. I just hate the argument, because it's predicated partly on preseason rankings and then if you beat the team in front of you - and conferences are so different and rarely play each other before bowl season.

I don't know what you're trying to argue. You said it yourself Oklahoma would blow out Iowa so if Iowa had our schedule they wouldn't be undefeated. Problem solved

Cuz people like to say Iowa would have won "this many games in this conference" and ISU would have won "this many games in this conference". All the time. And they base it on SOS.

You think Iowa would be 12-0 and ISU would be 3-9 if they flipped schedules? That's why it gets talked about. If roles were reversed Hawkeye fans would say the same thing and I wouldn't blame them

I find this is the hot new "Iowa is the greatest team ever" argument going around among hok fan and hok talking head. Any time someone mentions their terrible SOS, the close games against poor competition, boring play, etc...the answer is "But NOBODY thought they would be this good, NOBODY".

NOBODY cares.

I think the big issue here, that gets Hawk fans so riled up about this stuff, is that actually, everyone knew how good Iowa was going to be this year. Most people figured they'd be a solid team, who had a laughable schedule. The only thing that's surprised people up to this point, is that Iowa didn't completely lay an egg on a game or two, like they have in years past. But the thing is, everyone looks at Iowa and says, "Yeah, it's tough to think of them in the playoff, because they are still the team we thought they were at the beginning of the season."

I'm not trying to bash Iowa here, going undefeated is a big accomplishment, even with a weak schedule. But the perception I get, living outside of Iowa, is that everyone knows how good this team really is, that's why they don't think they deserve to be in the playoff. They just figured with Iowa's slip ups in past seasons, the same would happen this year and it wouldn't be an issue this late in the season.

Welcome to cyfan. Home of the lazy argument and group think.

Does having this same argument twenty times an hour make you feel better?

Breaking news its not going to change for isu. You will be the punching bag and an afterthought in your conference. The big 10 doesn't want you. There is no push to make things better for you, unless you pull yourselves out of the bottom.

Bad teams have no say in anything.

You can dream about being where Iowa is but it is just a dream.

I can't even follow the arguments anymore in this thread. The teams that you play matter. If the Iowa Hawkeyes had played 12 NFL teams so far they would most likely be win less. I don't care if the schedule was out of your hands it still matters when determining how good the team is.

Yes. I do enjoy that Hawkeye fans don't think they would be undefeated with ISU's schedule

Don't worry about bolts. Not even the hok trolls like him. He's having a hard time not having any street cred.

I mean seriously, he's been given 14 thumbs up.

I would. Cuz it's a stupid argument. I think OU is better than anyone in both conferences, but no one else is that great. And as we've seen, people lose games they shouldn't. So would Iowa be 12-0 in the b12? I don't think so, but they might. Because how the hell can you know? Texas could be 2-10 in the b10 too. How in the hell would SOS tell us that?

Common sense tells you Iowa played an incredibly weak schedule. SOS backs that up but you don't need that it to prove anything

Being a little above average is definitely within reach. But that cream puff schedule? Sure, ISU can only dream of having that.

Okay then...how about Vegas? Or Sagarin?

The good teams in the b12 are Baylor and Oklahoma. We played both.

The good teams in the b10 are MSU and OSU. Iowa will play 1.

So it ain't that much different. We just need to win 3 of the games we should have. Then this stupid strength of schedule doesn't matter as much to people.

It seems like some discount SOS because they don't understand how it is computed other than "If you beat somebody it goes down and if you lose it goes up." It is almost comical that someone would believe the system is that simple. In that case UCF should have the #1 SOS.
