Everyone on here does I feel like. If TCU loses to us, they aren't in the top 5. If we beat OSU, they drop too. So this whole thing about we play tough teams comes down to the fact that we need to wins few of them. Then you know what happens? They aren't in the top 10-15 or even 25.
Well OU is better than Iowa and they lost and their schedule was even easier than ISU's. There's a reason nobody respects Iowa and it's because they play a laughably pathetic schedule
The opposite of the one you woke up on today. CyTwins wasn't bagging the Cyclones SOS, he was implying the Cyclones had a strong SOS and if Iowa were to play a season with similar SOS ratings, they may not be undefeated.
I haven't seen too many Cyclone fans that speak of their tough SOS as a negative. It's a positive, and yes, we wish we would play better and win some, which may drop our SOS slightly, but not majorly.
I for one am glad they have a tough SOS year in and year out. Because if you can compete in the upper half of the Big 12, you are ready for anyone come bowl season. Doesn't happen to us very often, but when it does, it's something we can all be proud of.
I find this is the hot new "Iowa is the greatest team ever" argument going around among hok fan and hok talking head. Any time someone mentions their terrible SOS, the close games against poor competition, boring play, etc...the answer is "But NOBODY thought they would be this good, NOBODY".
NOBODY cares.
Thats also part of what I'm saying. It shouldn't be an argument. They start the season with fake rankings that affect the SOS. If Iowa loses to NW and UW, their SOS changes too. If we beat a few of the teams we should have, our SOS gets worse. I just hate it as an excuse, argument, or a basis of which team is better than another. Teams change over the course of a season as well.
ISU just needs to change their outlook on things, and While I initially didn't like our hire, it is growing on me quickly.
This is just stupid. Iowa played a significantly easier schedule than a lot of teams including Iowa State. Iowa fans will even admit this and I think it's fair to point out that is huge reason why they are undefeated

if we beat KSU, OSU and say a mediocre TCU, we have a worse SOS than we have now. So then Iowa fans get to say we won cuz the other teams sucked? Meh, I just see it as a lame thing to compare.
With thy that being said, Oklahoma is by far the best b12 team and Iowa is lucky not having to face OSU in the b10 game, and I hope Oklahoma plays Iowa cuz it won't be close. But I dont need SOS to tell me that.

Is it even a question who has a tougher schedule? If we beat all those teams we still have a much harder SOS and it's not even close
We had to play Iowa, and Iowa had to play us. Hurts them. See how stupid that is? All we had to do was beat them and they wouldn't be undefeated. Same with 11 other schools. I just hate the argument, because it's predicated partly on preseason rankings and then if you beat the team in front of you - and conferences are so different and rarely play each other before bowl season.
