If this has been discussed, I apologize I wasn't able to find the thread.

I am am really happy with CMC as our coach. He has hit the ground running and I hope we are successful.

My question is who else was interviewed or had their interviews cancelled with the Campbell hiring? I am alway curious who the other candidates were.

Thanks!

I honestly believe that CMC was candidate #1 and Jamie didn't interview anyone else. Those interviews would have only happened if he declined or didn't accept that day.

that was my general thought. With the stalking in Detroit, that would make sense.

Hired within a few hours of the first interview meant the others were never called.

Why not? I've been involved in the interview process in my profession. Even if candidate no.1 is really impressive, we always schedule the subsequent interviews so close so that there is no rush to make an immediate decision. I suspect everyone is going to assume we could not wait even a few hours, but I really question the rush. If the interview process is controlled and directed by an this Atlanta firm, I'm sure they could have coordinated it accordingly. Nonetheless, a good hire, but I would have liked to have heard about other interviews.

I thought Football Scoop reported that Iowa State had interviews scheduled for the Sunday and Monday (or maybe Monday and Tuesday) after the West Virginia game in Atlanta. Obviously, Campbell and Pollard made an agreement before those took place so those didn't occur. Doesn't mean that there weren't more before that earlier though.

Because we had our best option, and didn't want to risk losing out on him to interview other people just in case. We paid an agency to do the dirty work finding our best options.

This Chris Williams character must have some pretty shotty sources.

S-T: There was a report that you interviewed for the head coach job at Iowa State. Is there any truth to that?

CB: “No, there is no truth to that at all. That’s 100 percent false.”

The point of the firm is to identify the best fit candidates. You start with #1 and go from there. Jamie was on the plane before the 2nd half of the WMU and Toledo game. He was there in the hopes that Toledo would lose and Campbell would interview. There is no doubt Jamie got his guy.

You can bet there were at the very least phone conversations with other candidates agents. Pollard couldn't risk not having a second or third option available.

I think JP described it clearly on CMC announcement press conference. They hit it off, JP wisely got Mrs. Campbell there so Coach didn't have to tell JP..."I'm interested but need to speak to my wife first", they were both on board and JP closed the deal.

Normally, yea you take your time, but if you get a BIG fish on the line you don't throw him back into the lake when there are 1000 other fisherman out fishing that day too.

Actually that is not true. The point of the firm is to arrange the logistics. JP and Leath tell the firm here are the guys we are interested in and the firm goes out and gets things arranged to talk. This was stated by JP in the MC Press Conference.
