OK I admit I am old, and I know that this is a re-incarnated RHCP, but when I think of them, I remember two things,

1) Posing nude on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine
2) Under the Bridge

I was never a big enough fan to buy tickets to their concert, but I read their set list on the Register's site and it doesn't even look like they played Under the Bridge. Isn't that like Billy Joel not playing Piano Man or Bruce Springsteen not playing Born to Run?

true they didnt play utb, i was a little dissapointed, but it was still the best show i have ever seen! flea is absolutely freekin amazing! if you are a rhcp fan and didnt go... im sorry. that show was killer!

I really hate it when you go to a concert and the artist wants to force their new music down your throats so much that they don't acknowledge the songs that made them famous and you came to hear. I went to a Black Crowes concert once with no Hard to Handle and no Remedy! WTF???

This may date me a little bit but my wife and I are going to see Bob Seger in Omaha thisTuesday night. They have all his setlists on a fan website and he is mixing in just a few songs from his new CD but he is playing ALL his hits. That's how a concert should be.

I will echo that clonerules. I was at the show and had a great time. I would have liked to hear Under the Bridge, but they played all of the other songs I could have asked for.

What did you think of Gnarls Barkley? I enjoyed them-- a bit eccentric, but some great tunes.

All in all, a very fun show. I'm a bit sore today b/c I thought I needed to dance to every song--I guess that is what you do when you have floor seats.

Gnarls Barkley's performance--with a string quartet!--made me a bigger fan of theirs than I would have imagined. And the Chili Peppers musicianship. Wow. Flea is incredible on the bass, the callouses (sp?) on his hands can probably cut diamonds. John Frusciante is so bad on that guitar. It was sick. That was my favorite concert to date, despite no Under the Bridge and no Soul to Squeeze. Loved it. (I am still really excited, can you tell?)

Wow, I never thought you could be considered "old" for liking RHCP. I remember back in the dorms when Blood Sugar Sex Magic was the shizzle. It just doesn't seem that long ago.

It would have been interesting if the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed in their outfits from their early years. A friend of mine went to see them back then and they came out on the stage just wearing socks on a certain appendage.

I understand the disappointment that they didn't play Under The Bridge. It would have been great to show their appreciation of the fans by playing the song, but there are times where bands just get tired of playing older tunes (Did they play Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground"? I always enjoyed their version of the song). Besides they probably wanted (or needed) to promote their newer songs.

No thanks. They can go ahead and keep their cloths on.

You are correct about the older hits. Some bands really get tired of playing those songs 200+ times a year. On top of that RHCP have such a massive catalog that they have to leave out some of the older hits in order to play some of the newer hits. They've been dropping an album every three or so years for 20 years now and each of those albums ends up charting 3-4 songs. IT would take 7 hours just to play all the radio hits.

Wow you guys must not make it to many shows. It was good just like the other 4 RHCP shows I have seen, but if you think that was the best show ever you got problems. They had a total song time of about an hour, that is weak. Also the fact that this show was the same exact setlist I saw a couple months ago in Minneapolis makes them a decent not great live band.

Still a fun time but it sounds like you guys need to get out of your house and go to more shows.

Am I the only one that thinks every one of their songs sounds the same? Sorry, just not down with them as much as some people. They're in the same boat as U2 for me, overrated. Just my opinion, I'm sure my taste in music wouldn't float everyone's boat either.

That irks me as well. However, I haven't had the ill-fated luck you have I guess. When I went to the NIN concert last Feb for their "With Teeth" tour, they only played 2 of their new songs, and the rest was the stuff that I wanted to hear live. I don't know if they did this because they haven't been in Iowa for 10+ years, or if that's how they do it much of the time, but it was a great show.

I got free tickets about 2 hours before the show started. I had a great time! Some of fleas solos were incredible, the drum solos were great too!
