OT: Brewery Recommendations Near DSM

I've seen a lot of recommendations to watch the game at The Hall. I've watched one game there and due to the seating arrangement found it awkward to watch the game. I ended up straddling the pew, because I didn't want to turn my head 90 degrees for 3 hours but still not the most comfortable (Just an FYI). Maybe if I got a better seat with a better angle, but I have not had the desire to watch a game there since. (It was at the same time as an Iowa game so half was Iowa State game and half was Iowa game, so only one of the 2 large screens was the Iowa State game). I do love The Hall btw, but just wanted to mention that to someone who hasn't been there before.

Otherwise, I think its hard to go wrong with any brewery in the metro.

I haven’t been to the hall in a while, but I agree with this. It’s a great place with a lot of great beer, but the seating is really awkward for a game watch.

Yeah, they need to reposition their big screens. If they turned their seating 90 degrees you'd have 1/2 the people unable to see anything.

Agree with Lua, best brewery in downtown area by far. Luckily I live right next to it wo can stumble to and fro as much as I like!

I really like 515 but I'm not exactly sure the status of them, if the taproom is open now?

Barntown is great, with good food, too. Would be a fun place to watch a game, normally.

Never been to Confluence, but I really like most of their beers.

Depending on where you're coming from., Alluvial in Ames makes some fun stuff too.

I want to throw out a plug for Brightside Aleworks in Altoona.

They make some awesome beer and they get overlooked due to their size and location.

i agree, brightside is making excellent beer. Stouts need to come along a bit, but IPA's and sours are top notch.

Last I knew, the 515 taproom is open with limited seating. They also have a small-ish patio available for seating.

Their NEIPAs are always solid, and I love their Slammer (sour) series. They have two new pastry sours dropping at noon tomorrow (key lime pie and black raspberry pie).
