OSU overlooking ISU

If we would beat Okie State, it would probably be the biggest upset in ISU history

I don't think ISU has ever beaten a Top 5 team. So, if OSU is still #3 (or higher) on the 18th, and we win, it will definitely be the biggest upset in school history.

I would say that both teams can ill affford to overlook the other this weekend.

No team can be overlooked in this league..but..if both teams show up, no team in the big 12 should lose to kansas. Crazy how good this conference is top to bottom..kansas is the exception..every other team has been ranked at some point and we were close. We had some bad losses, but it seemed like we had opportunities and could have won some of them. Same can't be said for kansas on the road. They never had a glimmer of hope..still nervous that gill will get fired before kickoff.

I'm different from everyone else, I don't think OSU is this great team thats unbeatable. Sure they are damn good, but I would say they are only a top 10 team. ISU can stay with a top ten team if they come to play. Remember Nebraska last year.

OSU only beat A&M by 1 point. A&M is a solid team, but OSU would have lost if Sherman would have ran the ball in the second half. They also struggled with Texas and Mizzou. A top 3 team wouldn't have struggled with those schools. I think OU is better than OSU and we saw what could happen if they don't come to play. I think we'll learn a lot about OSU after this week when they take on Kstate. I think we are very similar to KSU, and I would not be surprised to see OSU lose.

Hey folks - Im a professor here at OSU and born and raised in Iowa. I proudly sport my clone colors here in stillwater and support both teams (My first encounter with Weeden, I was wearing some clone gear). People here are very high on Iowa State (as in they like us) and multiple people comment on how they feel Rhodes is the best coach in the Big 12. A person that supposedly has spoken with the coaching staff (works with the local radio) stated that Gundy and crew have this game circled as a trap game and really respect coach rhodes. So my money is on that they do not look over Iowa State. Hope it is a well played game but damn we have some horses here. Anyway, will be at Finnegans in Stillwater rooting on the Clones this weekend, here's to two in a row!

Fify.

But we just have to play our game, lay it all out there, leave everything on the field we possibly have, play another game like Tech, and we have a shot of scaring them

My sincere apologies - Rhoads not Rhodes, screw up noted

They could overlook us and still blow us out. TT can't run, OSU can run, we can't stop the run. Our game plan will be to drop into zone, to slow down the Weeden/Blackmon connection and they will run all over us.

Also OU will run blitz us almost every down. It's what they have done to us every year, and we don't have the WRs to make them pay.

Both will be horrible blowouts, and I'll be happy if they're kind of close.

I'm putting all my hope in beating Kansas, and stealing a win from Kstate.

I feel the same. I hope Kansas State is demoralized by four straight losses after a 7-0 start when they play us and we come in playing for our lives with a 5-6 record.

You should convince Boone Pickens to donate some money to ISU. :jimlad:

No doubt, I'll get on the bat phone to T Boone asap and make an inquiry. Its amazing what $$ does for a program. From what I hear OSU used to have a rust bucket stadium and generally were a .500ish team. Bring in T-Boone's donation and facility upgrades and look where OSU is now. I've always wondered if ISU could see a similar leap to prominence with similar resources. I've been to games at both OSU and ISU and I would say that the everyday ISU fan is much more passionate than OSU fans (they rarely sell out the stadium).

OSU is good enough that if they do overlook us, they are talented enough to get themselves back in it.
I think we can punch OSU in the mouth and take the lead into the half, but it will take some luck to get beyond there.

TTU gave up, as did their horrible fans. They were thouroughly dominated. I don't think we have the talent to dominate OSU for 4 quarters. We will need some turnovers and extra frustration for OSU.

OSU used to be one of the teams ISU could beat, pre-TBP.

I think it's crazy that their attendance is as bad as it is. I just don't get it.

If you're a fringe fan in the state Oklahoma do you cheer for OU of OSU?

Keep in mind that each week a team continues to remain unbeaten the pressure on them continues to build. I don't think OSU will be looking past ISU to the OU game... I think OSU could be looking past ISU thinking about a potential spot in the BCS National Championship game. This is unfamiliar territory for the Pokes and many teams have either struggled and or lost games they had no business losing with a spot in the NC game hanging in the balance.....

Dec. 1, 2007
Pitt 13 - #2 West Virginia 9 (Pitt was 4-7 going into that game)

Nov. 9, 2002
#3 Ohio State 10 - Purdue 6 (Purdue was 4-5 going into that game)

Just the 2 quickest examples I could think of. It isn't uncommon late in the year to see a highly ranked team facing an opponent they don't see as a threat come in with their head in the clouds and they get into a real fight to keep their perfect season alive.
