That's like 70% of targeting calls. I like the spirit of the rule, but at some point you have to just let these guys play football.
Launching is when you leave both of your feet and spear the offensive player.
He was just going in low on a sack and Lawrence dipped down into it.
If they keep this rule they need to change the automatic ejection. Clearly that wasn't intentionally and it cost a good player over half the game.
Thinking the refs did that turning a big sack into a 15 yard gain.
If you put your head down like the defender does, you're going to get called for targeting most of the time, regardless of what the offensive player does.
That QB draw called by Clemson on their last TD is what good offensive play calling looks like. Ohio State has Clemson's normal offense figured out, so Clemson absolutely needed to throw something different at them. The Ohio State rush has been so persistent they have just been stunting and pinning their ears back. Clemson OC noticed it and Ohio State played right into it. Take note Manning.
Ryan Day's coaching ascension is weird......like epstein-orgy-cultish. That or there are just a lot of dumb guys in coaching that he just passed over like a rocket. Boston College WR coach to OSU head coach in like 7 years? He must be more mensa than Mensa.
Ok. A 2nd look--not a launch by that.
But if you lead with your helmet, you can get called for targeting.

It warms my heart to see these tOSU people (including their coach) ******** about the refs.
Not to listen to him talk to the sideline reporter. He sounded like a real tool, whining about the refs. Boo hoo ******* boo hoo.
