Open Positions on FB Staff?

I just got the news from another source. Hoping this doesn't effect our instate recruiting.
Why would we hire an instate guy? Rhoads and Messingham are already good enough. I'm not the type to meltdown, but I might do that here.

Is there a blue-chip recruit we're trying to nab KU-style? Hopefully?

Otherwise we'll just have to trust CPR on this one..

If I were choosing my meltdowns, this would be far from the list.

They have a massive Offensive lineman that I think will be a jr, but I'm doubting it is any sort of a package deal. Not seeing any positives with this.
I don't even think the guy is that well-liked by other coaches. That concerns me more than his 2 win a year record over 10 years

Jim Womochil is the head coach at Jefferson. They have not won a game in two seasons and had a 1 - 8 record the season prior to the two winless seasons. I know in HS that records are not always representative of a coach's skills and abilities...but it would be surprising to see a coach in this situation get a shot at the next level. Obviously CPR wouldn't hire a guy unless he believes in the person's skills and talents but I would think there are a lot of people who would want an opportunity to coach at a Big XII school.

Word is that Womochil is resigning at Jefferson today.

I played under Womochil in 05 and 06. He is a good guy but no way should he be coaching at the college level. I know he did a good job at Williamsburg as their head coach but other than that no reason for this hire, if true

Are HS HC's so spiteful that they will let a GA position determine how they interact with the actual recruiters?

That massive OL is so soft he hasn't finished a season yet...not like the young OL kids in Cedar Falls...

What news did you confirm? That Womochil is quitting Jefferson or that ISU is hiring him? I am not sure I believe the ISU job part of this story...maybe he is going there to be a GA or something but no way will he be one of our 9 staff members (or whatever that number is). I just don't see that happening...

Over a graduate assistant?

If they don't like him, why would they recommend their player go to the school he is at?
I understand what you are saying. A GA isn't a huge position, but I also don't think ISU is any position that they have to do anyone any favors by hiring them as GA's.
A GA spot at a BCS level school is a very coveted position.

Hopefully those other coaches can get over themselves and realize it not about them.
Luckily HS coaches in Iowa don't have that much pull on the kids, and if they do they are only going to have a D1 recruit once every 5 years.

Jefferson has had 2 winning seasons going back to 1990, while Womo has been around since 2001, i don't think it's entirely his fault because of that. Having played for him and being involved in the Jefferson community I can say that the lack of success of the football program is a mix of things.

I remember times where the poms would get use of the gym over us if there was bad weather, the administration doesnt support football nearly the way they do with other sports.

To reference the people who think that because he had a losing record, remember that chizdick did too, sometimes its all about the situation your in.

I believe he could do great things as a position coach, without having to be in school 8 hours a day and having control over an entire program.
