One more post on Wes Eikmeier

I went to high school with a guy who played at Drake as a Jr. College transfer. A very low level Juco at that. That kid could shoot too, and was similar in size to Wes.

His Jr year he as newcomer of the year in the Valley, and was 1st team all Valley his Sr. year. I questioned his whether his athletic ability would translate from small town Iowa to the Missouri Valley, not because he wasn't a great athlete, but becasue we all question if a kid from 2A ball in Iowa can translate to Division I. In this case his ability to shoot the basketball served him well. There are also stories of similar kids who never lived up to the hype. .

You talking about BJ Windhorst(sp). I played against him in HS. He was freaking good at everything.

this incoming class is going to have some

interesting memories. especially if Wesley had stayed and dont lose anyone. This class will be one if not the best ever when you toss in Lucca. Get Dykstra and possibly Barnes, should be a fun next few yrs.

As a former Fremont, Nebraska resident, I hope Eikmeier makes it big. Wes will have to shoot some tall cotton however to surpass the legendary "Lariat" as Fremont's most famous product.

We don't have to be confused about who we're talking about when we mention Wes any more. We're talking about Wes, the Cyclone.

The entire point of the game is to make baskets, there are no bonuses for power dunks or wicked crossovers, IMO this kid is going to be a solid player for us. It may not be from day one but given time I think he will turn out to be great.

I know about hindsight, but the new Wes looks to have better credentials than Clayton Vette ever had, or several other dice rolls in the past 8 years. The new Wes seems to light it up no matter who he plays, some of these other "shooters" we have recruited have had great high school careers and maybe some inside connections with ISU. Verbally beating up a recruit, who verballed to ISU early, in any way, before he arrives is just wrong.

Iowa Wildcat..how about Boomer's? I used to take teams to Pro-Am Golf Tournaments, and Fremont CC was always a favorite because of the post round celebrations.

It is now a rental store. It has gotten really boring here.

Last I heard was he would be there for the Summer League and School.

"Boomers" did not exist back in 1975-6. Now the "Lariat" is legendary. We had my brother's bachelor party there. They tossed the whole bunch of us because a small minority of us (3) insisted on dancing on stage in the nude with one of the girls. The girl did not mind and the crowd roared their approval. Too bad management did not have a sense of humor.
