One more Allen Lazard thread

LOL Pretty sappy! JK, as a Packer fan I have to disagree. Bet the Chicago media is trashing da Bears this morning.
I don't know about the media but this Bears fan spent all of yesterday evening trashing them. They're GARBAGE.

The Bears Oline just plan sucks, and the fans were booing the whole game. They had to be thinking the front office chose the wrong QB, 3 years ago. Montgomery, had a couple of decent runs, but the holes to run through were few and far between. When he had a hole, he ran well, on most of his carries he was looking at a team picture of the chiefs front line when he got the ball.

Just read the article. Great to see and love write-ups like this.

(and btw, take the Bears talk to the other thread, and I say that as a Bears fan)

So happy for Allen. He worked the summer before his senior year at Briarwood in Ankeny as a bartender. He worked hard and had a great smile the whole time. It was so fun to introduce my young teenager to him. I got goosebumps a couple times reading that well-written article. Never been a Packer fan, but watched as many games this year as the last 10 I'm guessing.

I've been the opposite. But I'm all in for Allen with the Pack now. And I'm really happy he has a great QB.

Sorry if this has already been covered already elsewhere but he's an unrestricted free agent after the season, right? I hope he's done enough to earn a long term deal somewhere. Seems like Green Bay is a pretty good fit for him but I'll be happy for him wherever he gets his big payday.

I could be wrong but I am pretty sure he is an exclusive rights free agent which means that the Packers can sign him for the league minimum on a 1 year deal this next year, but then would have to negotiate or let him walk after that.

That sounds right. I wasn't sure how it worked for undrafted free agents. I think David Irving was in a similar spot with Dallas before he burned it all down.

Hell, I'm a Viking fan who has found myself very conflicted about the Packers this year. I can't go so far as to say that I want the Packers to win tonight, but I've definitely pulled for them all year.

Allen's an all-time great who picked Iowa State when he didn't have to. We don't have many people who have done that.

The way it sounds he's very happy where he is. As a Packer fan, of course I'm hoping they sign him to a long-term deal.
